I wish I had a kit so I could tell you about the C of G. I think 1/3rd of the chord length or the front of the spar would be a good starting point. I wish you the best with it. Dave.

Sterling 1-26

1/3 Balance point is too much on a 1-26. With this leading edge sweep, it should be 25% of the wings chord at the root on a 1-26.
I have one in my garage, I will confirm and get back to you.

Well I just tried looking through my 2 AMA kit plan's book's for the Sterling 1-26 and they had all the other Sterling glider kit plan's but no 1-26 plan's. I will keep trying.

It is usually 2/3 of the way back of the leading edge, for most planes.

http://www.gliderworkshop.com/plans/...70-span-plans/

has the plans, which can be enlarged a little on the site; best I could determine from the low-res image is that the CG if about 30-31% from the LE at the root chord. Looks to be just in back of the front spar and just in front of the wheel axle.

Sterling 1-26 balance point

It took me a couple of days to dig it out, sorry for the delay.
The balance point is 3-1/16 back from the leading edge at the root. this will get you airborne and controlable. I remember it flying on the fast side.

I can hardly wait to maiden it but this time of year in NY is not conducive to successful glider flying.

Kind of look's like 1/3 back from the L/E to me.

Yafb-25, from the original Sterling plans it looks like 3-1/16" from the L.E. Hope it helps.
