Getting a Ricky

Just ebayed a Ricky. The description said its "untested" and sold for parts. The controller and bike are on different channels. I wanted one to change the electronics on anyway :] So I'm pretty excited

Nice, of all the bikes I have I think its one of the most realistic, I found it nib and never opened it. Great idea find one lightly used to run it. There used to be companys that sold hop up parts.

Snow sounds like fun but then you dont want to get it wet.

I ran mine in the dirt and lots of fun

I was figuring on putting in the electronics from a rustler xl-5 in it, all waterproof, so the only thing that would be getting wet would be the motor :]
Either way, ought to look good on the shelf next to that Yamaha :]

If the electronics are waterproof, it's no problem to drive in the snow.
Just be aware that things will get rusty

forgot i had started this post. I got the ebay ricky. swapped out the radio, esc, and servo. And I had NO control of the direction at all, even had a bad enough wreck to split the body in two pieces, the seat and rear fender came off and Ricky was riding on the back edge of the tank.
Thanks to a great deal by a member here (thanks Clay !) I got a Ricky with a decent radio, a titan 12t motor, and a 2s lipo, the bike had an aluminum swingarm and fork brace. This one was actually controllable, well sort of, lol, as controllable as Ricky can be with stock steering linkage. Not only was it fun to drive and great to have a decent bike, BUT, I also could see how the previous owner of the first RIcky didn't have the steering linkage right, so when I replaced the servo, I did the linkage the way it was before I started. No wonder he couldn't steer :]
So, now I have two Rickies.
I've lost all interest in the 1/8 kyoshos as a result and have since sold off all my 1/8 stuff.
I also bought a proline razorback quad body and rider (still in the bags, untrimmed, unpainted) from a member of another forum. Still waiting for it, from canada, tracking says it went out the 15th and shows it in san francisco since the 19th. Once it finally gets here I'll be building SOMETHING to put it on. Should be a nice compliment to the Rickies

you could try to chase up a fella "toyranasuar" he made beautiful aluminium parts for these bikes... His business name is Rogue Elements...
Dunno if he really does any bike stuff anymore, but worth a try...

I still have a few Ricky parts left. Been putting them up on Ebay here and there when I get the chance. My stuff is not quite as beautiful as Chris at RE's is, but it works...

Sold my last Ricky rider figure a few weeks ago. Think I have 2 sets of Ricky tires left. A ton of chain conversion kits and a few aluminum swingarms...

Not sure what Bruce still has available at 2wheelhobbies. I know he's said that people were still looking for the fork braces in the past, but at this point I'm not sure there's much of a market for Ricky parts.

AR parts for the ricky are about as good as they get! I am selling my Ricky bike with a bunch of extra goodies if anyone is interested. Time to fund some more recent projects. It's on the Eeeeeebay.
