Got my spare blades & fly last weekend. It was my shortest flight on the AG,crash at the first turn!....Problem is my lousy flying skill. I used too much rudder in the turn resulting almost 180 degree turn & lost forward momentum. next stall & crash. I know experienced pilot will keep stick input to the minimal.....I'm a noob just want to share.
BTW the AG is repairable & will try to fly it this week ends (with some Dual Rates)

I don't think those blades will work, they are not designed for a single rotor autogyro.

Good luck Mark! wait for the wind to ease a bit!

G'day Mark
Well I s'pose we all have different speeds we are happy with.......I find that 5 kt is great and for me 10 kts is max.....and I should think that your model is pretty lightly loaded and would have problems pushing into the higher speeds........
What about the LA 500 ??
Happy Landings

thanks chris, hopefully it wont be too windy to test it then

yeah the LA500 took abit of a back seat, bought all the electrics for it and then it went back in the garage! lol

im hoping this tractor prop model will be a good introduction to gyros and then give me the motivation to get the LA500 airbourne
ive been keeping my eye on this auto-g since i saw it on hobbyking and now its in the uk warehouse i had to grab a few.. especially at that decent price!
picked up a drifter ultralight aswell so will hopefully be able to test that too.

regards,mark

Ill get some video of it chris and the auto-g
the drifter looks really cool apart from the tiny pilot you get with it!

Hi ukinoz, set your dual rates of course but if your transmitter has Expo set that and you will see a very favorable improvement in your flying skill. We all over controlled when first learning, try initial Expo at about 35%. This will make the servo response less sensative at stick neutral but you still have 100% as the stick movement is increased to full.

I fly all of my fixed wing planes with some expo and dual rates, but for the Auto-G I've gone with no dual rates and no expo, it just flys better that way.
Expo on the roll makes the model soggy and you'll tend to over control in the turn, a dangerous thing to do with an Autogyro, before you know it the nose is dropping you're in trouble. So I prefer crisp control, but not a lot of it, feed Roll and rudder together to start the turn, opposite roll once in the turn, little bit of up, and nudge on the power - and they'll fly nice sedate turns

very cool jockadopolus

i had probably the most pathetic maiden ever today
got down the field and was blowing a gale (i know i was told! lol)
the grass was sopping wet and muddy but being just me and the wife there i chose a ground takeoff as its better than being thrown into the floor.

i spun the blades with my finger and eased the throttle up till it got abit of speed and it tipped over and broke the plate that holds the blades! lol

i managed to fly the drifter ultralight but was being blown all over the place (see video)

i went home and fixed the head with the spare plate you get, grabbed my tx and went back down the field before it got dark,
i got to the field and opened the hatch to plug in the battery and it wasnt there!
i only left it at home so had to come back lmao!

gonna get up early tomorrow before the wind picks up too much and have another go, lets hope ive got my head together tomorrow! lol

looking forward to trying some different views of the auto-g
