Got my Auto G yesterday. 6 clicks right roll trim, 4 clicks down elevator, and she pretty much flew straight out of the box. This thing is just SWEET!

Congrats with your maiden, curious what the winds were when you got her airborne.

Did you ROG or do a hand launch?

Have fun!

Thanks Chris

it wasnt as hand full to fly compare to my cierva, much more relax..
ground take off wasnt an issue either, just face the wind, spin the blades, give slow power input, use rudder to steer and right aileron as needed to compensate then she will lift the tail wheel first then airborne.. doesnt even need elevator
its bit like my dc3.. love watching em wheels slowly leaving the graound

15-18 mph, gusts to 25. Typical West Texas weather.....

ROG, first flight, hand-launch second flight. She was a sweetheart,
in both.

Got mine out today!! I am a Auto-G rookie with scars to show it. I dinged up some blades trying to rog. I actually had no issues the first flight with the rog. Got the speed up and she lifted right off. The second flight I had to replace a blade and the other two are good enough to leave on....

Flights 3 and 4 I hand launched. I found I had better luck just hand launching it. Its alot of fun and I will edit this later to add a video I took.

I almost lost it due to a dog jumping on me and knocking my radio from my hands. Not the first time I have tried to just fly at a park and people let their dogs run loose though its against the law.

Did you replace one bolt on each blade with a wooden dowel/toothpick/balsa stick? That saves a lot of wear/tear on the blades...

Congrats on the flights!

Congrats on the flights!
I read that in the forums and never thought about it. But after my first time with this today I probably would have used a a couple boxes of toothpics.

Here is the video. I made a couple changes for tomorrows flight. I added 1/2 oz to the nose and I took red blade tape and put it on the ends for my little screw ups. And my wife is going to maiden her plane as well. She has the new Firebird Stratos! Ok I will maiden and hand her the controls after its trimmed out.

Loop at 2:30

OK Lithonion, who are you really? You flew that like a pro and not like your first outing with an AG. Well done! I'll be watching for your wife's maiden flight.

Thanks for the kind words. This is not an exaggeration , I cut out about 8 minutes at the start of that video of me just flipping it on its left side..lol I could put full right and it kept flipping over to the left. I got lucky with one broken blade and two dinged up blades. But I was not going to quit till I flew it or needed to order a new one.

I will keep hand launching till I am more comfortable with just flying and landing.

Nice flying Lithonion & an even better landing!! And you got that right, taking off is the hardest part!

I'm like a few others here & waiting for the parts that are back ordered!! My buddy is going to make a blade grip for me out of a thin (so she can flex) piece of plywood, we hope that will work 'tl i can get my hands on an official rotor blade grip, I'm dying to fly her!!

I think you'll have better luck making it out of plastic--like a plastic lid from a Tupperware type container.

And guys, save yourself a lot of grief and hand launch. The success rate will be much higher and once she's trimmed and you can do a touch and go, then ROG will be an option. All maidens should be done this way with this AG, especially if you are new to AGs

Nice flying man! Looks like yesterday in Omaha...not bad weather, but foggy as can be! Today should be a nice day....give me a call if you go flying your autogyro at the field...we'll make it a fun fly!
