Sorry for your misfortunes. I understand being upset for sure! But you should probably actually talk to "E Flite planes" before you conclude "take it back" is hype. They have treated their customers very well in these situation. But they are not obligated to. Their warranty agreement is "until you take it out of the box". But I have never heard of them sticking a customer with this kind of ridiculous warranty!

Also I noticed in you original post you said "lipo gave a warning pulse" LVC is not a warning pulse it is telling you you've already overdischarged the battery. By the time the LVC kicks in a pulses the motor the batter is WAY beyond the 80% discharge limit. You should plan your flights so that you land before this happens. Also measure the mAh put back into the battery. Your goal is 80% of the batteries rated capacity. -Brian |

Re: the Edge 540qq I will be polite of course - maybe due to their enviable reputation I was expecting better? I'm not Horizon bashing btw - but I do feel an expensive albeit complex item like this should function as advertised at the very least. Yeah I'm dissappointed too because I was having a blast before the prop disintegrated!! |

It will help immensely if before you call HH CS, you have specific info, including pictures on hand as they may help make your situation clear with HH. In particular, it seems you are attributing the issue to a sudden and catastrophic loss of one blade, separating from the stock and original molded two-bladed prop, causing vibration induced motor separation, before you could stop the motor and try a dead stick. That's the type of very strange thing that has yet to be reported here, sounds very odd, and (speculating) might be due to rough handling by a packer or other transfer operation that folded a blade over, and then it got folded back, perhaps. So, if you can get a close-up photo of that hub, and the blades of the prop, then that might contain valuable clues as to the way the thing failed -- perhaps a crack, parting line, bend, or other defect/artifact will show up. Just do be aware -- HH is darn good at spending some time trying to figure if a caller is a genuinely aggrieved customer with valid QC or other complaint, versus a careless flyer who just wants to angle out some spares or a replacement plane due to poor flying or prep on the part of the flyer. So if it seems they are in any way 'giving you the run around' trust me they are not -- just answer questions, provide information as requested, and if there was a QC or design or shipping issue, then I am sure you will be made whole. |

Having an extra set of hands to hold the plane while you work the servo out would be beneficial. The servo is either glued or taped to the fuse. If you can get under it with a couple picks it should wiggle out. Tape a piece of string to the servo plug at the receiver before you pull it out of the fuse. You'll need this to pull the new lead back through to the Rx. I've had a couple where the lead slid right out but some take a good tug to force the lead out. Some good two sided servo tape is really all you need to hold the new servo in. The hardest part for me was getting the servo lead unplugged from the Rx. It can be a real PITA!

rudder servo only turns one wayQuote:
Does this sound like a stripped servo? I've already replaced the rudder servo once and don't look forward to doing it again as it was a bit of a pain getting the servo wire through the small hole inside the tail. |
