good throttle *servo for 20 cc gasser??

What do you guys think, analog or digital for a throttle servo on a zenoah g20????

the great Gassif´er
I use Futaba S 3010.... crude, heavy duty servo's that withstand vibration pretty well. Cheap too. they are intended for control surfaces of big scale planes, but do OK here as well.

thanks for reply, so you would use analog, reason why i ask is i have 4 futaba s3151- digital, i was thinking to use one as throttle servo......or maybe no, what is major downside of a digital on throttle?

No downside to digital. Use what you have.

I use what I have as a rule too. Where I pay attention is the geometry, end point adjustments, and smooth interference free motion.

The major downside would be unnecessary high power consumption

Which is no big deal, because it is not much anyway....

Still, I would use analog, because I would so for anything that does not require digital, just as a basic rule of thumb....

I've never bothered with a digital on throttle (I'm cheap), and would never use one with metal gears (too much slop), but if you have the S3151's sitting around, use them. On throttle, the difference in current draw between a digital and analog isn't worth worrying about.

the 3151 is a good choice but a little on the weak side as far as output goes. if you like to still use the throttle return spring you may find that the servo binds at full open.

i like to use the hitec HS-605. its definitely overkill in the torque dept for throttle, but the helical teeth on the output gear are very strong and resist vibration well.

A properly set up throttle servo won;t bind at full open with the throttle spring attached. the spring also offers negligable resistance to movement

I think the Futaba S3151 mentioned above is an ideal throttle servo. It has enough power and being digital will allow more fine control of the throttle plate. this would hold true for any good quality digital servo. I chose digital throttle servo's for these reasons.

An analogue like a S3010 r even a S3004 is also fine. Don't sweet the servo choice, just set it up well using the correct geometry and it will last the life of the plane.

I have used what I had in the past but not anymore. JR Sport ST47BB is what I used alot till they kept breaking gears. I only use a JR821 or Hitec 5485 on throttle and choke from now on. I almost lost my H-9 P-47 twice before I switched over and i have had no problems. Yes it has a DLE20CC on it and it's awsome!

Could I use for the throttle and choke of an RCG 20cc mini servos of 12g like the HobbyKing 939MG Servo MG 2.5kg / 0.14sec / 12.5g? I mostly see in pics of gas engines standard servos for throttle but I might have seen also mini servos, can't remember exactly. The throttle level moves very easily, I don't see why 2,5 - 2,7kg of force won't be enough.

I'm using one on a 3D plane where weight is pretty important, but if you're going to try, I'll warn that set up is something you need to keep a close eye on. End point settings are critical. Set incorrectly the servo will overheat and burn out pretty quickly,

A std. servo would be much more forgiving.

Hitec HS225mg or if need a little weight HS5625mg...of course I have an old cub with hitec 311 plastic gears that just keeps on going...
