Prop out of balance

My prop is out of balance and its causing the rudder to shake about in flight. The hub is drilled off centre and when on a pin the prop comes to rest with the blades horizontal but always the same way . I tried filling the heavy side of the hub and adding tape to the light side to no avail. Any other ideas ?

Get a new prop! My stock one I couldn't get balanced. I got a couple spares from LHS and they are both perfect.

Been experimenting with props as the standard one gives a lot of vibration and the rudder has a resonance at the standard props RPM.

Micro Invent 125 x 75 Mines a bit battered still getting the vibration and resonance from the rudder. but reduced Slight improvement in flight times

Minium 100 x 60 Motor revs much faster so no resonance with the rudder. Model has good performance flying on the wing but less good at high alpha. Better duration at low alpha worse at high.

Anyone else tried other props ?

Picked up mine on Monday. My new batteries last about 4 minutes each and I'm having the same problem with vibration in my rudder. Will pick up a new prop next time I'm in my LHS and see if that helps.

I tried the following without success but it might be worth a try

Put a small piece of sticky tape on one blade , test fly. Did it get better or worse
If worse put tape on other blade and repeat test
If it got better add a bit more tape if it improves add more tape if worse take some off.

Remove prop slide it on a pin , spin it a few times and note where it stops
Mine always stopped with the blades horizontal the same way up. So I started filing the lower edges of the two blades. Didn't make much difference I think the hole is drilled off centre.

Don't even have to fly to test, just hold on to where the landing gear goes in.. You can feel/see the thing vibrating if it's out of whack. Also check blade tracking, that can make vibrations if uneven..

Will do. I ordered the props and savers in the links from post #894. The savers are in the mail, but I have been advised that the props are out of stock and there is no known date of when they will be in stock.

I'll have to try to find another source. As I am new to planes does anyone have a url for a good supplier with a large variety of propellers?

I'll see what I can find.

Whats a fair price for a used mini in practically brand new shape with 3 batteries, charger, original box and manual?

If they're stock batteries or better I'd say $80 is fair. You'll lose money on the open box but the batteries should make up for most of it.

Hey guys, I'm not much of a plane flyer, but I have a UM P-51 and now a Mini Vapor. I was wondering if it makes sense to set rudder->aileron mixing in the TX on the mini vapor so the rudder stick also controls the tail. I was thinking it might make it easier on the brain when swtiching between a 3ch and a 4ch plane.

Just remember if you move both the aileron and rudder stick to do a coordinated turn as you would on a 4 channel plane, you will get double the rudder movement as they add together.

I don't, on 3ch with bottom heavy dihedral wings you can almost treat the rudder like an aileron.
