Thanks for the heads up Steve.

My "gold" coupon expired ... guess I will wait for the second shipment. I'm not an early adopter type anyway.

The software is flashable, so I wouldn't be so hung up on that. The first generation 8FG can be updated to latest super, so I am sure they can do the same here.

With that said I've decided to wait until I can hold one in my hand and see how it fits before making the purchase.

I am glad I pre-ordered today. Especially after Steve's comments. Just sold my 8fg and am selling a couple of others so I can "justify" this one!

I have a JR 9503 and a Futaba 7C 2.4. But I want to sell 1 of the transmitters and commit 100% to the eco-systtem I decide to keep (if 7C, then I'll buy the 14SG as my primariy Tx). I fly mainly Wings and Funjets. So I only need 4 channels mostly.

Is there a Futaba FASST 4-channel Rx in the pipeline that's about to be released to rival Spektrum's $29.99 AR400? I just went through Tower's entire FASST line-up and the cheapest full-range (2-antennae) FASST receiver is the 617 at $90! I'm trying to calculate my cost-of-ownership for the next couple of years before I commit.

PS. Getting a clone FASST Rx from HobbyKing defeats the purpose of flying Futaba. So I'd rather stick to genuine Spektrum or Futaba FASST.

With the 14SG, you are also compatible to use the low cost S-FHSS receivers.

Futaba R2006GS 6CH which is a low cost, full range and high voltage rx. Costs $45.

An 8CH S-FHSS rx is $60.

I said on the post #65 that the 12FG will be discontinued and other people think like me.
I would wait until the International Toy Fair in february for the new radio.

It's what he meant. Sell your old 8FGS as long as the 14SG hasn't hit the coast.

I would'nt be surprised to see a 12FG, and 12Z replacement. Both are old platforms that are costly to keep in production.
With global markets still down and emerging markets the only place where growth is still expected, mid range radio's is an area where a RC company can provide value and affordability. The futaba range needs a gap filler between 18MZ and 14SG that falls in line with current market needs
