Futaba 14SG (See the updates and warnings in the first page)

A Finnish dealer have this on their site:

Receiver is the R7008SB so this looks like a telemetry radio, available december.

Edit: 2nd March 2013, another member suggested adding some links:

Product homepage USA

Product homepage Robbe DE

Manual (english)

Malcolm Holt's guide for the 14SG at Amazon (Kindle)

Edit: 6th December 2014:
WARNING: The V5 firmaware update from December 2014 contains FASST protocal changes for the european region coded 14SG/FX-22 transmitters to comply new EU rules (listen before transmit). After the update the non Futaba made FASST compatible receivers might lose the link. Users have reported this problem with the FrSky TFR6 receiver and this probably affects also other FrSky FASST combatible receivers as well as rebranded versions. It's possible that the problem also affects other FASST compatible receivers like Simprop, Corona, Orange etc. The problem affects only the european region coced 14SG/FX-22. The region can be checked from SYSTEM -> INFO -> AREA menu.

Edit: 7th December 2014:
WARNING: The V5 firmware problem has been reported also with the Simprop Gigascan FASST compatible receivers.

Edit: 14th January 2015:
FrSky has released new firmwares for some of their FASST compatible receivers. Users have reported that the new firmware solves the problem with the V5 firmware.

Edit: 10th June 2016:
Simprop has a LBT update for the all Gigascan receivers (available since 6/2015 forgot to update info here).

Seems like the perfect way to go. Take the 8FG, call it what it is, a 14-channel radio, and add telemetry. If the price on the European site is real that puts the US price around $822 or so. Seems like the perfect price point!! Can't wait to get my hands on one!!

THeres more than just telemetry built in though. I think this will add conditions, more wing types, and more mixes than the 8FG allowed. Looks like it will bridge teh gap between 18MZ and 8FG,
Probably even compete with the 12FG feature wise.

I'll sign up for this thread as my 8FG has been along since it was version 1.1

A man with too many toys
When will Tower Hobbies have them in stock?

RC Man,
Where T14SG has been advertised on various dealers homepages they say delivery in December so I assume it goes for US and Tower Hobbies also. To release it after Christmas would probably not be so wise from sales point of view.

Is it the 8fg case or different.

its a completely different case. It looks very similar but there difference are clear when you look at the posted image and one of an 8FG(S).

For starters, the aluminium inlay is a different shape with bigger radii at the outer edges.
The lower edges are less raked.
The rear of the cassing has an ergo section and the side panel extending to the rear is either a softer rougher plastic or rubber (the image above is a model of the radio not the final product).
The screen in the 14SG is slightly bigger
The dials are angled differently and the LED's for power and transmission are positioned closer to the dial switches.

The touch pad is similar to that used on the 8J in that it is illuminated. The 8FG(S) does not have an illuminated touch pad.

The mechanical chassis underneath all that is still similar to the 8FG(S) as can be seen by the layout of the switches, sticks and trim switches
