Time to figure where the servos are going to be. Can't finish covering the elevator until the pull-pull configuration is complete.

Near as I could tell the TE of the wing is fared into the fuse with three or four long forms. the shape is very slightly concave. You need a diagonal across that last fuse bay on the top. I'll see if I can dig up pics of mine....

Thanks for the pics! The rear view is especially helpful, there are not many from that perspective. I find that the Flyline plans are not exactly scale. I'll do what I can with what has been built to get the best effect.

Gotta love Callie Graphics... The "Manufactured by Ryan Airlines", which goes under the NYP, was too small. I'm going to give shot at hand lettering that with graphite, then possibly painting over it.

Heck with the graphite, I was thinking easy to erase in case of mistakes. The original was loosely freehanded, so I picked up a fine tip archival ink pen from the art supply.

Brushed Humbrol over Doculam makes for very convincing brushed doped fabric. Nice hand lettering.

Thanks Robert, the paint is a metallic aluminum, it looks coarse under a magnifying glass. The finish is very scale like.
The geen tape used for linear reference pulled up a few specs of paint. I'm lucky the graphics didn't peel up.

Horizontal fin detail. In my early zeal to keep weight off of the tail, three holes were routed in the center section. It was soon realized that the vertical fin had little to mount to. Balsa was subsequently fitted and ca'd to have more for the fin to adhere to. Light filler is the white stuff to either side of the of the former holes.

Elevator pull cable detail.... The original probably had a pulley wheel for the cable to ride on. A tiny plastic tube works good for me.

This model is heavy in the nose, the 2 oz cowl, the aluminum spinner, long nose moment, light tail feathers. So the rudder and elevator servos will be mounted aft.

Both rudder and elevator servos. The screws pass through plywood which is ca'd to balsa spar sections, which are ca'd to longerons. The balsa spar sections "sandwich" the longerons. The longerons are reinforced where they are glued to the fuselage sides.

It's looking great. Love all the little details your adding like the cable exits. Noticed in your picture that the Smithsonian hung SS1 right next to the NYP. How very appropriate. The two have much in common.

An oval piece of solartex cut to shape, and sliced down the middle, makes a good looking reinforcement.
