It isn't official, but AC2.9 was recently released for testing:

As you may already know there are several bugfixes and improvements over AC2.8.1, but the most anticipated change is the addition of ACC sensors to altitude hold. Some folks are already partaking in test flights with 2.9. If you try 2.9 yourself, be sure to read through the DIYdrones 2.8.1 thread. That is where Randy has been giving more detailed feedback on 2.9. Pay particular attention to the new extended ACC calibration... with 2.9 it is more critical than ever to get it right.

Merry Christmas,
Kev

So is the rc timer APM 2.5 old? And there's a 2.9 version coming out soon. Or is 2.9 firmware update?

The official APM 2.5 enclosure and power module are compatible with the rctimer arduflyer, I tried it myself.
Thank you for that. I was just about to ask about the power module.

Hi,

This week I received my RcTimer APM 2.5, I want to connect it for the first time to the laptop as described in the manual. When I come to the point to load the firmware I get the warning that the firmware was unable to load. Comm. Port doesn’t exist

In the device manager I can fin dit under COM&LPT, in MP it shows up under comm17

I running it on Vista with the latest MP software.

Anyone having the same problem.

Ben

Vibration Monitoring

I found two good tools to measure vibrations.....Vibrations are the root of all evil with respect to Any Flight Controller and Camera Mount...Here are two apps for android smart phones, that provide a very good data model for testing and reducing vibrations.....I just mount and fly.....then log the readings...make changes and repeat to attain minimum vibrations....also great for bench marking anti vibration materials and methods.

Cool apps thanks for sharing; added it to my android toolbox as it can be useful for many things. Mission Planner can graph accelerometer data from tlogs; so APM has this capability already built in.
