Tow plane release - a longer version for foam turtle-decked planes

I recently had some longer tow releases cut in my machine shop for my 1/3 scale Extra.

These are "extended" by 30 mm, ie they fit through a foam turtle-deck and are designed to be be mounted to a plywood bulkhead with 4mm flathead machine screws. Also they are oriented properly for bulkhead mounting and not "backwards" like the popular rectangular type on the market.

I designed it so it can be cut down by 25mm for shorter applications and still get two screws into the bulkhead.

Weight is 20 grams, or 0.7 oz.

I can have more of these cut if the interest is there. Price would be $50 shipped conus. I make nothing, ie this is time+materials. No hardware is included. It is designed for a 3mm pull rod or it can be easily drilled out to 1/8" diameter.

It was modeled after the design on this page, but simplified a little for less machining time.

A pdf drawing is attached if you want to make your own.

PM me with your email if you want one.

Thanks,
Adam

awesome Adam...

I have one of these now and it is very well made. I had to machine my own release a year ago for a nearly identical tow plane installation..

I spent a whole day making mine on a mill and lathe. Adam's are much nicer and of course already done.. well worth the price in my opinion.

Received my tow releases and they are stellar! Thanks, Adam. Now I've got to get going on a new towplane.

When you do mount them, make sure there's a good release
