Oh dear .... But if every scientist that has a government grant to study climate change all stand up to say it exists .... And therefore justify their budgets .... You're fine with that and see no issues with it right?

But of course, it's a 'social' good.

Not true.

Nice try, though.

And I'm no "denier"....but saying "every scientist not working for oil" is dishonest.

There are enough people on earth that our mere PRESENCE has to have an influence. It's worthwhile studying what and how much, along with figuring out what we can do to not push things in the wrong direction. Don't believe me? Wait til you see a bear in your city (happened here 2x in the last 6 months).

Oh, to think we're having no effect is asinine, period. But I think the situation is being exploited for political gain.

You're totally off base here. Scientists don't arrive at conclusions to justify their budgets. They get paid no matter what. I work at a lab full of world class scientists, and much of the work they do ends up proving things don't work the way they thought. Pure science is funny that way.

One of the preeminent optics scientists of our time told me to never approach science with an engineer's perspective. You will be very disappointed at what you discover.

What justifies a research scientist's budget is how well the science is performed, not what conclusions are reached. Engineers, not so much.

The sky is falling!!! The sky is falling!!! We must go and see the Messiah!!!

Passing taxes on the uneducated does nothing. Well except for robbing the masses under the guise of science...

It is a tough sell to convince people out of their guilt feelings.
Once a person has an emotionally based view of something they are generally lost to that view point. Until someone they respect shows them a clear way out of their misguided belief they are stuck.
