Aircraft Recovery Boats

I have just recently found the joy of flying Float Planes however I had an incident several days ago and I lost the ability to control the plane while on the water, I had a canoe and was able to recover the airplane however I would like something I can keep in the trailer or in the car to help recover downed or immobile aircraft when no human sized boat is around. Does anyone have any recommendations, suggestions, or ideas on what I should be looking for? It does not need to be pretty just functional.

to be a thorn in Steve
look for recovery boats posts using the search engine. Youll find several posts on the subject and basically same concept. Depending on the the size plane, just need a decent size boat to get the plane and use some type of U or Y shaped piece in front of the boat to push the plane or a hook to snag the plane.

I have one of these. The prop is up inside, like a jet drive, to keep it from snagging on debris. The little duckling behind it has the hooks for recovery.

Here's an old thread that explores several methods.

I built a Springer to use as a rescue boat, specifically to use at our joint boat club/airplane club events at the lake. The airplane guys run a Float Fly-in, and the boat guys get to rescue stalled float planes...

Also in the picture is a rescue boat with the traditional "S" pipe. It worked fine for smaller rescuees, but the off-center scoop limits the size of the model that can be scoooped up and brought back to shore. The smaller Springer, with its push ahead boom and 2.5:1 gearbox, is slower, but can handle larger and heavier models.

I recommend this one:

Drag a fishing line behind it and get it to entangle the stricken plane, then pull the complete mess landwards.
