Hi, I would personally go with the Genesis. It is a larger boat and single motor. The Apparition is
ok but with twin motors you will have to buy 2 ESC and it will be double trouble. I have an EKOS cat which I converted to single as I was having many problems with the twin set up.

it's better looking and have 1 motor will reduce the mechanical problem

The Genesis for sure.
But... The 100A ESC suggested is not big enough. It will burn out. Get a Turnigy 180A & run an X440/3 blade prop on that motor.

You will need the bigger ESC when you decide to upgrade the motor anyhow. And trust me, you will upgrade the motor one day.

We set one up at our club yesterday with one of my old Red Brick 200A ESC' s Everything was in the sweet spot. Temps, Revs & speed.

The main reason is that the motors will draw a lot of amps depending on the prop size. A higher rated ESC will handle those amp draws. A lower rated ESC will pop.
Although that motor is rated at about 80A I've measured 140A draw on mine.
The bigger the ESC the more margin you have for Amp spikes.

I cant say I was to impressed with the Genesis. Ran real nice STRAIGHT but couldnt corner at all.

I vote for something a bit wider.

That's strange.
It was the Apparition that I couldn't get to corner at speed without spinning out. The two Genesis at our club both corner well at full speed.
Bit it would be better if it was a couple of inches wider. as it can be a bit unstable in rough & windy conditions.

My running buddy had one with a castle 1515 2200kv 5s and it was fast going straight. Didnt corner the best (not at full speed at all) and with some wind it wasnt very stable.

Thanks Jad. I'm glad you like the boats. Time to sell a few off as I'm running out of room to keep them all.

I must admit that the 2200kv motor on 5s would be a lot faster than the boats at our club which are running around 2000kv on 4s. So the cornering speeds are a bit slower here.
We must remember though, that even the full size cats of this type slow down for the corners,

Have setup my buddies new Genesis with stock motor, HobbyWing 120 ESC & stock prop running 2 4S 40C's in parallel. Measured 97 Amps RealTree V4 logger, speed 35 mph (GPS). Problems with unknown water leakage. Motor/ESC HOT. Have melted solder on 4mm motor bullet connectors. Full thread posting on RC Universe. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_99...m.htm#11257446

For the unknown water leakage;
1) remove brackets and everything from the transom, and re-mount with some silicon in between.
2)Check the water cooling hull feed-through collar(s), some are not properly glued from factory.
3) put a piece of heat-shrink over the stuffing tube where it enters the strut. Like this guy did:
This is a well-known issue where the water gets pushed up in the tube.



This should help

For the overheating;
1)Pull the shaft and check if it runs free, re-lube.
2)Set the Genesis with the rear end flat on a table, set strut bottom even with bottom or a hair higher, I'll bet yours is too low.
This will increase your speed and run cooler.
