RIP Azarr - "Old age is not for sissies"

Here's mine, maiden flight yesterday. Like the rest of the Crack series, building is a snap. Some minor differences between the build of the Lite CY and the standard, but nothing major. They're the same size, this one has CF spar rather than spruce, thinner EPP and flat stock CF landing gear.

I tried to build mine as light as possible without going to any extremes (like shortening wires etc) and came in at a beautiful 160g (5.6oz) My stock CY is 187g without landing gear, so at the same size, this one is almost exactly 15% less with landing gear, pretty impressive. The instructions say to use CA, but I used Welders. CA deceives one into thinking it's light because of the way it's applied, but there's no evaporation. In my opinion, when used on EPP the foam becomes brittle. I did use thin CA to assemble the landing gear and to add the pushrod guides. The only change I made was to leave off the plywood pieces and pants on the landing gear.

I used:

Hacker A10-13L
3 Dymond D47 servos
TP 32565C pack
GWS 9 x 4.7 prop.

Sorry, no video. It's a beautiful flying plane, really shining in low speed harrier. Was only able to get 4 flights on it, still playing with the CG. I think I'm pretty close at 192mm from the front of the foam.

After looking at the pictures, now I need a pink one also (sometimes I hate this hobby )

The ultimate VPP trainer

I am in the middle of building my second one, to use as a trainer for the Mamo VPP system. Going to use Axi 2203 vpp (kV 2000). I am totally thrilled with this plane! Closest to matching depron performance indoors (and vastly outshining it outdoors) of all EPP planes I ever had. And there were many for sure.

Very cool thread Chris J. love the Crack Yak-55 model and now we can enjoy her a little more indoors this season as well. The construction on this new model is pretty new and slick, keeping her thinner and rigid with added carbon fiber and the included light weight LG. The basic drawing manual is available but we will have a fully detailed manual very soon. Hope you guys enjoy as much as we do.

.
well... now that the wait is over..
.
will of course leave all the build details to hercdriver7777, but I thought you all might like to see some pics of how the main spar is different on this one, very clever and adds some additional stability to the wing.
