I'm pretty new to rc hobby but I think that if they asked for $10 per year even with less perks, a lot of members including myself would pay just to support a site that has made so much information available to us.

i think 50 is more than reasonable,
i have paid 20 a month before to be a member on a site and there were no classifieds or info (tutorials) about my hobby there to learn from

then again it was 10 years ago when everything was less available online for free
but i think if you divide by 12 months its not alot to pay

Ha! So it is just a money grab after all.

Remember this quote, from JB's announcement earlier this year?

"In the past we haven't fully realized the value of that 1%, but we do now. In fact, we're launching a new program shortly called RCG Plus which will offer more to our highly prolific and trusted 1%-ers. Thanks guys for all you do for the community here!"

Highly prolific and trusted 1%-ers, doing more for the community. Yeah, sure.

Seriously. Be careful or they will throw the padlock on this thread like they did on their "August, +Plus User of the Month."
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1703350
(ALL negative posts were removed that questioned +PLUS)

UUUMMM come to think of it, we never did see "Sept. +PLUS User of the Month."

Terry can remove "all" negative posts at will, even lock the thread.

Ain't that right Terry?

We now know how many have paid $50. It is 1% of the total membership

Sorry, couldn't resist

My opinion is that these are paltry benefits for the price, and the RCG+ program runs the real risk of driving fissures into the userbase of the site. Look at what happened to RC Universe when it started doing tiered membership and classifieds - the users fled to RCG because they felt they were being exploited. Watch your step or you'll be next...
I just switched back to "classic" view,,,.. that way "EVERYONE" is viewed as a "REGULAR" member..

Well maybe Terry can let us know exactly what constitutes a Plus thread and what information the users who choose not to subscribe will be missing? I don't think I will be interested in the subscription myself as I don't post much or PM people or anything, so it may not be a big deal for me to have some things unavailable to me?
