thinning Foam Tac

Foam Tac can be thinned with Cyclohexane; however, it is not readily available and is used mostly in labs.

A more widely available solvent is Hexane, which will thin Foam Tac. Hexane is not a recommended thinning agent,as no studies have been conducted as to whether or not Hexane will attack the foam.

Please remember to keep the flat cap that came on the bottle. After using Foam Tac, allow the remaining adhesive that was in the applicator nozzle to drip back into the bottle. Then remove the applicator tip, and put the flat cap back on for storage. A matchstick inserted into the applicator tip at this time will also adhere to any residual adhesive. You can pull out the matchstick later and it will clear the nozzle.

Hope this answers your question.

Foam-tac is a good product, It does have it's benefits if you need to glue sprinkles on your kids Halloween costume. Personally I prefer a much stronger contact bond for my EPP 3D planes. If Welders goes away I'll look towards 3M Scotch products.

??? I use it on my EPP 3D planes and have lots of experience with the foam tearing before the glue joint fails.

How can you need (or use) a stronger bond than that?

I've found foam-tac doesn't lie when they claim that the bond is stronger than the foam...

Chances are you didn't let it cure properly... you apply it, smear it on both sides, let it dry for 8-10 minutes, then stick them together. It'll hold strong enough for building/repairing on the ground, but give it a day before throwing it back in the air.

I called Homax in Washington and inquired about welders. I spoke with a customer service rep,i informed her that many in the hobby community enjoy there product and asked a few questions. There really is no a definitive answer other than Lowes has stopped carrying there product. Time will tell i guess as to the future availability of welders though... I didnt have time to see if there was any still at the local lowes lately but have a couple tubes left and will check this week.. This is when scratch building usually gets started for me so i'll look for alternatives but have read good feedback on the foam tac glue and someone offered some for me to try locally, half bottle but will be more than enough to see what the pros and cons are of it for epp use.

I tried Foam Tac and felt it was too thick, maybe I got an old package.

Or, you can just do this Unfortunately the free shipping offer has expired and now >$35 for free shipping. Still not bad if a few people go in together.

I agree on the Lowes...they couldn't find it for me in two stores. I eventually found it with the help of somebody here on RGC.

Got Welder? We DO!

We just got in a large shipment of Welder for those in need! We lowered the price to $2.49 per tube (we split the tubes for those that just need one).

We are also bringing in a case of the newly formulated Foam Tac. I'm excited to give the new stuff a try.

Just bring your wife a bunch of flowers wrapped in paper and when she takes them out to put in a vase, a package of welder falls out of the bottom. "Look at that, honey, I will take that back to the store !! "
