Shaping the wingtips was fun and easy to do.

Well the covering from AZ Models finally came in. It looks impressive.

No wood building lately, I've been busy with other stuff.

Well I was able to slap a coat I paint on the fuselage. Man that lustre coat yellow is thin and runny!

Looking really good and it looks like you were able to get it smooth w/ the Lusterkote
it is a very tricky paint to work with lots of light coats and it still can drip.

I mounted up the engine to show off at our club meeting this month. I'm going to build the top wing this weekend, the bottom halves are now joined.

Here is a pic of the lower wing rubber banded into place. I'll drill the peg holes out later...making sure the two wings and tail will all align in a halfway decent manner. Might need to ask a clubmate to come advise before making anything permanent.

I found another kit error, the plans call for four U1 upper ribs, the kit only supplies 2. No problem though, the scrap wood had room to trace out a couple more.

Top wing is falling into place. Build in three pieces then prop the tips up until the top is flat. That came to about 1/8" or so at the tips.

Top wing is trucking along. False leading edge has been installed, top spars, plywood braces at the dihedral point, laminated trailing edge near pilot, and now boxing in the aileron area at trailing edge.

Still need to sheet the center bottom section, make wing tips, leading edge, finish ailerons, and work on the win mount fixtures. After that I can see how the wings line up, make wing braces, then cover wings with that cool lozenge stuff.

Just found your building thread, I hope your D VII flys as well as my 1/4 scale D VII. It is a dream to fly. I did my first D VII in the same color scheme and I painted the wings in the lozenge pattern ( top colors are different from the bottom. I am following your build, good job.

Hey thanks for the reply and pictures. Hopefully mine looks as nice as your bird. I've been waiting for some more D7 owners to get involved with the thread.
