400 equivalent

Hi, what would be a brushless equivalent of a 400 motor ( I am assuming the 400 refers to brushed, as it is a strange, quaint Czech plane called "Bird")? And then would a 30amp esc be okay with a 1100 battery? Thanks in advance.

Any motor rated at about 60 grams is considered the equivalent of a 400 motor. The brushless will proivde better power to weight than the brushed though, but a little more power is usually a good thing.

Choosing an ESC and a battery also requires choosing a prop and knowing the KV of the motor. In general, a 30amp ESC and a 3 cell 1100 battery should be fine with a 400 size motor, as long as you don't try to put too big a prop on it.

A watt meter is recommended to make sure you aren't drawing more amps than the ESC can handle, or more watts than the motor can handle or the battery can provide.

Here's a couple:

400 sized outrunner brushless motor normally means the 2208 one, while 450 size is 2212 ones. Be reminded to check their specs to find out the best performance from their KV values, the props and Voltages used.
