Ok, on my tg9, there is a glider mode. Instead of the normal thr (throttle) on the display list, there is an arb

I'm not a glider guider, but I believe if you reduce the throttle the airbrake will be deployed more. I.e. low throttle = low speed.

However I'm sure someone more knowledgeable on gliders will chime in.

If your glider has airbrakes - yes.
On many gliders the airbrake is used in a mixer to the aileron and/or flap servos to provide an airbrake function (ailerons up a lot and flaps down a lot).

The direction you move the stick to get the brakes to work depends on your personal preference as it is reversible in most Tx.
