Romney's great grandparents were Polygamists who fled to Mexico due to laws in the US against Polygamy. As a child, George W. Romney, Mitt's father came to the US when Mexican internal conflict made it too hot to stay there. George Romney was not in WWII, he was born in 1907, so there could be any number of reasons, age, whatever, not really interesting. He did work with the auto industry in the war effort. More importantly, in 1968 he joined the anti-war movement and ran for president. He served in Nixon's administration.

Mitt also said at the time he believed entering Vietnam was a mistake, but he did support Nixon's incursions, thinking they would end the war sooner. He had many deferments, but in 1969 entered the lottery and got a high number, which insured he wouldn't be drafted, case closed.

One might question his pro Iraq war stances and criticisms of Obama for leaving Iraq. That seems to be without any substantive claims for whether he believes the Iraq invasion was a mistake or not. Just political garble. His tough stands and loose talk about Iran certainly seem to show he is ready to send America's sons and daughters into any war he feels necessary, and without congressional approval seen as necessary, he stated he would ask his lawyers about that one.

Since the Majority of the Military and the Military Complex Support Romeny it seem's it irrelevant what you think he is or is not..seems the ones that count want him.

Was Vietnam the only reason to serve. I'm 50 served 15 and would have done 20 if not for the Clinton Drawdown. Am I alone in seeing the irony in your post.
