I recently built a Kestrel that had slightly forward sweep. The main problem I ran into was balance. It required more lead than I wanted to use. I finally cut the wing in half and added rear sweep to allow the cg to be moved back. I can forsee this model possibly running into the same difficulty.

That is one big ass Kestrel ! Nice work Joel. Do you have a build log or video of this bird???

Having weight in the nose is not a problem for me, but I DID modify the sweep in post #41 to reduce the nose lead. I find slightly higher wing loadings (15 oz/s.f.) to be beneficial. When the wind comes up, you want to be able to penetrate. I can easily thermal my Plank 101 at 17 oz/s.f.

I'll probably keep tweaking this and that for another 445 days, but a potentially pitch neutral flap next to the inboard elevon, might prove useful.

Crow is available for landings and a rudder effect should be possible to help with turns. This one is intended to be a floater.

Cool ! Thanks for the link. No I hadn't seen it. What a great design and execution. Those tail feathers look quite delicate. I see that his control system is similar to mine......that's encouraging.

The head and neck design is brilliant. It must be quite a sight in the air. Couldn't find video of it though. I see that the Alula has morphed into a motor.

Since this is primarily a plank, there will be no pitch neutral flaps............don't know what I was thinking. Crow will be possible

The extended elevon is looking attractive now. Control inputs for a tight turn should provide for significant washout, hopefully reducing tip stall.

Also thinking of some dihedral, maybe 3 degrees.
