That's a big old beast! Well done on the maiden. GPS is under the dome?

Steve....I really like where you positioned your gopro. Makes it a lot easier to see where you are flying when using it for FPV

The Vulcan Y6 and together with the YS-X6 make a good team. Not flying mine at the moment as my YS-X6 is in China getting upgraded to the -P version

Keeps the GoPro a good distance from the GPS too - can interfere otherwise.

Bill, it is a big beast that's for sure! Yours and mine are complete opposite ends of the spectrum! I am going to convert to X8 just for the redundancy. I'm also going to upgrade the PDB when I do that. I'm waiting for Alex for his new ones to arrive. I'm also going to do your hole through the boom trick and shorten the booms a tad. Yes the GPS is under the dome.

@robone Mmmm I just plonked the GP there for the purposes of showing the y6 and the maiden flight. I thought the vibration were really low considering the GP is quite high and adhered with DS foam tape. It is that 3M super strong sticky stuff. Maybe I should have thought twice before I stuck it there a bit close to a prop!

If you've got enough spare thrust a Y6 should fly OK on 5 motors. Probably wouldn't do the GoPro much good though

Really, even when loaded? I am looking to put a 3 axis CS gimbal underneath with a Dslr.

I think it depends on the AUW and how much thrust you have available. If I feel brave enough I may try unplugging a motor lead on mine next time I'm at the field!

Thanks Paul. Can I ask how did you do your power distribution? You did a wiring harness but I am unsure how to size the cables.

I'm using a low-powered vtx and wanted a location for it where the signal wasn't potentially going to be blocked by booms/legs/centre plates. Couldn't find anywhere on the frame I was happy with, so today I added a simple CF rod mount ... secured by a collet glued to the top plate:

Hi Steve. I'm not sure of the exact AWG. I would say they are the same as the wires that come out of the 40a plush esc's

I see a couple of vids on your Vimeo channel that were made in Slough. Are you in the Bucks/Berks area. ?

Cheers

Got some 8000 mAh packs for my Y6 last week - 28% left after 10 mins in the air, which I'm very happy with. The gains are pretty much sorted now, generally I'm very pleased with it. Touching the camera while it's hovering I can feel no vibration whatsoever. The frame itself is very good, and the gimbal is filtering out anything that's left
