Extreme Flight 48" Vanquish Set-Up Help.

Extreme Flight 48" Vanquish Set-Up Help.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi All!

I just ordered a new Extreme Flight 48" Vanquish. I have been flying giant scale IMAC off and on over the last few years and decided I wanted to "dabble" a little into pattern flying. With the cold Colorado winter rapidly coming in I thought it would be fun to have a little pattern ship that can quickly go with me to the park or local club for some precision flying. If I in fact like the pattern flying I might just get a 2M version in the spring.

I have a couple quick questions, if anyone would like to throw in a few suggestions I would appreciate it.

1) ESC Braking. (I'm running the Castle ICE Lite 50) Should I use soft, hard, or other braking for best results?

2) Can I get better down-line braking from a larger propeller, 13" vs 12"?

I'm all ears to any other suggestions, thanks!

My Vanquish set-up:
1) Castle ICE 50 Lite
2) Futaba R6106 HFC High Speed RX
3) Futaba S3156 Digital Servos
4) 4S 35C 2600Mah packs
5) Motrofly 2820-750/13x6.5 APCe -or- EF 28141-820/12x6 APCe

Try 30% braking, sometimes if you go more you might get an engine squeal. I fly mine with a 13x6.5 and get pretty good braking. You may even try a 13x7 Xoar.

I have the same plane but slightly different set up. Similar batteries with an 800kv Fury, 12*8 prop and an older CC Phoenix 45. It is set for immediate brake with no delay. Thanks to the programming card I was able to get to 60% brake. Unfortunately, it does require some trial and error but is worth the time.

A higher diameter low pitch prop will give the best brakes but you will want at least 6" of pitch. I enjoyed the 13*6.5 on a lower voltage set up but too much power is usually just enough!

Check NSRCA.us for sequences and pattern pilots in your district.
Good luck!
