Fire yesterday, Insurance claim today.

Just a short post today, had an electrical fire in the workshop yesterday and lost all of my planes - had 6 of them in total stacked up, fire took them all. Pretty cut up about it but will hope to get something back from insurance. For now the fire guys are investigating what it could be, looks like it may have been an old halogen bulb which blew and scattered hot glass over a suitably oily/spirit soaked rag...

The positive is that I didn't loose my transmitter and have a micro quad to play about with, hopefully insurance will provide me with a nice new fleet. Any one have any experience claiming this stuff back I'd appreciate any advice.

After the depreciation and deductable were subtracted from the settlement, there wasn't much left to buy new planes. Good luck with you claim.

I was told most household insurance DOES NOT cover hobby items. It will cover them if you add a rider to your policy though. With that said, you may recover a portion of your loss depending how good the adjuster is.

Ah thanks for the info Pat, I had not heard that, it's something I do/did with all my planes with gear doors. Trying to get the levers, pulleys and springs just right is almost impossible so magnets are almost always the solution!

Haha, I don't think I could ask for a plane - though of course others could for me no - its just a simple progression - I did nothing special!

I'm still waiting on the insurance claim - I feel I could be waiting a while!
