NIB E-flite Sea Fury

I have one of the older (ie: non z-foam) E-flite Sea Fury ARFs sitting new in the box. I'm really starting to want more balsa and less foam planes. Gorgeous looking model but it's a foamy. $60.

Yeah, I will take that thing from you. Is the old foam lighter than Z foam?
Let's figure out when we can meet up - no hurry, unless you are hurried.

Yes, lighter than z-foam for sure. Should make a nice floater. Retracts are via a servo I guess. Very pretty little guy, just really not feeling the foam right now beyond scratchbuilds. I might have a need to be down your way this week Patrick. If nothing else I will be at Friendly on Saturday for the swap meet and could bring it there.

By the way, thinking about this plane:

It's a "boring" flyer in a sense but the details are freaking cool on this one. I just love my Leader 480 from E-flite. Also, thinking about the Super Cub from E-flite, the E-flite razorback mustang, and the Toledo special from Hangar 9. All nice detailed flyers. Heck, might even replace this plane with one of those cool balsa Great planes WW1 models. Balsa just looks and flys so nice, although I admit you can't do the details you can with foam in terms of panel lines and such.

Turns out the champ from E-flite has pretty big issues with the landing gear. Not interested in fixing what should be out of the box correct so I'm probably back to the Toledo Special. Seems to be just a very well executed and no hassle ARF.

Out of curiosity, what draws you to the Toledo over the E-flite Cub of the same size?

Cub is very cool and hopefully has no landing gear issues like the Champ does but don't know. I like that it has the spaces for the lights already present. Very nice plane and might be in my future.

For now though, the Toledo is way more aerobatic than the Cub. It's in some ways a clone of the Sig rascal but not sure they fly identically and I think it's a nicer arf than the Rascal (ie: already hinged, wings separate easily, tail comes off, etc..). I don't know if they fly the same or not but the Toledo will do nice axial rolls and fly quite fast (85 mph on the setup I plan to use). The cub of course is more of a scale flyer with mild aerobatics.

Also, the cub requires more servos to complete (due to flaps) so would be more expensive than the Toledo in the end (probably more expensive receiver also). However, it has better ground presence in that it's a platinum arf.

Ahh... I was looking at the E-flite J-3 Cub 25, not the E-flite Platinum Super Cub.

Yeah, for some reason that one does not appeal to me so much.
