is there a concern operating 2.4Ghz near lake?

Ok its not using it under water but even flying by the lake at low altitude? Is there any tendency for signal loss?

There shouldn't be, but you may get some odd interference from the signal bouncing off the water.

I've been flying float planes off water for 2 years now. An original spectrum parkflyer radio on a slowstick and a futaba FAAST with both a float plane and seaplane with ranges up to 1/8 mile with no problems.

2.4ghz seems to lose range if there is something between the TX and the RX, like trees.
Line of site only is the best.

There are plenty of boat modelers using the aircraft 2.4ghz radio systems, but I believe there may be some difference between the land vehicle 'pistol grip transmitter' 2.4ghz receivers and the aircraft based transmitters.
If you stick with one system, there should be no problems.

Most competitive nitro/gas boaters (ie racers) have gone to freq hopping radios. The problem SEEMS to be multipath nulls that spread spectrum systems are unable to cope with. Even the cheap Chinese pistol radios that are FHSS are working( except for the occasional GUID clash). Futaba FAAST is considered the gold standard in racing boats. DSMX would probably prove to be reliable, but Spektrum hasn't put that in pistol radios, YET.
