ive installed the gears, had to trim the grub screw on the vertical gear, mesh feels great, gears went right on with no slop.this machinist is good....cant beat it for $30.gonna go charge my batts and give em a try....after i lube the lower unit.
i adjusted the mesh a lil on the tight side to allow the gears to wear into each other, alittle tight spot...but not too tight to deter me from running them.

stock brass gears on the left, phosphor bronze on the right.

ok i was right, after the first run i had lots of slop, even heard a clicking sound during the run.
it turned out that the motor coupling grub screw came loose and allowed the vertical shaft to rise....causing the gear mesh to open up.i had to file the tips of the teeth....this metal is pretty hard to file.so i pulled everything down and shimmed the lower shaft and gear, and the upper shaft.stock the lower unit has plenty slop,so the lack of close tolorences helps eat the factory gears.so please shim your lower unit.even the best gears will fail if you fail to line em up correctly.ill be doing another test run shortly.

We all appreciate your time and effort to get these gears so that those of us with EP-1's can keep them running. Thank you!

no problem guys...im tired of the most scale outboards being shelf queens...lol.
i just ran 2 full packs through her,i must say im very impressed.no more wear than the last time i pulled them.im running a 27 turn axial stocker, stock prop with the boat tied off in one spot on 2 s lipo,i cavitated numerous times on purpose.after the second run the gears finally broke in,its now quiet and smooth with minimal backlash.

now the bad news ...my only lipo charger wont power back up.
my power trim servo is acting up,but did trim it while load.

heres some more torture test.....holding up great.
alittle insight about the guy that made the gears...he installed a set in his ep1,brushless with 37 mm 3 blade prop pushing a 3 foot boat.he has over 30 runs still no excessive wear.ill try to get him to join here and post up his results.

just pulled down after 5 runs.

spoke with the guy tonight,he wont join up her,not intrested in mass producing the gears,he comfortable with 4-6 sets per mths production, doesnt want to deal with the hassel of emails and questions...so i will be the middle man.
ive just ordered 5 more sets, ill keep 1 set for myself...sell 4 sets here.right now price is $33 shipped per set.
price may rise to $35-40 in a mth or so once more testing is done.
