mountain climbing up very dangerous steep slopes can be not worth it to find a plane

I have heard of guys even getting lost looking for planes out inthe wild
Its best to bring a first aid kit when out in the wild just in case

even broken ankles and in one case a run in with a bear and cubs

one guy told me he almost fell off a cliff looking for his plane

is your life or health worth a $500 - $1000 plane

sure he got lucky finding his plane but possably took a life threatening chance going to look for it

I thought this guy was just a kid, but from his recent picture looks much more older than I thought

younger people should not go wondering into the woods looking for toy planes

cant wait for the video of the crash, this should be cool

glad you got your plane back which looks like in good condidtion

okay so as far as the hike it was pretty easy.. 25 minutes to skein lake from the road 20 or so minutes to raft lake, then 30-40 minutes going through the weird snow marsh and brush to get up to the top of the hill i started going down... starting heading down how we thought the plane did up there and we basically walked right into it.

the red represents actual hiking trails we were on, we almost gave up a couple times once we started deviating from raft lake...

We made sound decisions, we weren't going to do anything that could get us hurt. Buddy had his 9mm glock, all we saw was a few deer..

EDIt it might have been just a bit past that clearing... we had Sentry's print out of where it might be, and when we checked gps after we found it, it was pretty much dead on.

What a great story, I love hearing about these search and rescue successes!

Makes me think, if I ever go down far away with no idea where, I'll probably wear my Garmin or bring my iPhone and record the trek in.

In this country people go out and get lost in the woods all the time. It's called hiking.

@ Scott I am stoked about this!!! I still can't believe it... the zephyr did not make it.. I can re use, my prop, motor, ESC, gopro, tbs 69, tbs ezosd, probably servos too.. (lost video tx, ezuhf rx would not display rssi after my last crash ripped out the rssi plug) I'll be going on my 5th zephyr =( almost all of them died because of bad launches, they kept snapping at the battery bay.. tbs battery bay helps but it can still snap on the edge of those....

Here is the result of the crash (nice coat of loctite 200, 5 mil laminate across the board) almost looks like some chipmunks chewed on it......

edited version
long range FPV mountain flight ends in disaster (2 min 10 sec)

RAW, sadly no big foot with the 1.5 hours of gopro recordings at the crash site.
long range mountain flight ends in disaster (7 min 24 sec)
