Time for me to Fly...

Alert

Calling all Michigan DLG guys!

Do I have your attention?

OK, as many of you know, GDSHS is going to be holding a Toys for Tots F3K event October 27 & 28. It's a two day event but you can fly one day only if you like... either day, in fact. We are trying to get a feel for how many people may attend so that we can plan for it properly. We're not asking for any commitments. We'd just like to get a tentative head count. If you think you may be coming please respond here.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I hope you've mentioned something to Roger. He's trying to plan for lunches, among other things.

Cheers,

Mike

If the weather forecast looks favourable, Pat and I will be making the drive down from Toronto.

Geez... I almost forgot about you guys. That's not acceptable. I'm giving myself three demerits for that.

I hope the weather holds. It would be great to fly with you guys again.

Is the contest still on this weekend?

It's a toy per day as entry fee, is that correct?

Bring your ballast and warm clothes and also a second pair of shoes. Your first pair is likely to get wet due to heavy dew in the AM.

Hi Ivan, I believe it's just one toy for the weekend plus the entry fee. I'm sure they won't turn down extra toys if you wish to bring them.

A more direct route this time, I trust.

Ivan MacKenzie.

P.S. Do we need to stop at the gate and pay the park fee like last year?

No, someone at the field will collect park stickers for the entrants.

Sorry guys, looks like I'm out for today. My wife's mom is back in the hospital again and I have the kids. Tomorrow is a possibility, though it looks unlikely.

I'm not going tomorrow. I broke a plane today.... Folded a wing on launch near a repair. Polaris. I had what felt like a radio lockout on the Fr3ak and to top it all off the conditions were tough. I'm hanging up the DLG shoes for this season. Time to hibernate in the shop and get everything in tip top shape.

The Mack brothers made the trip however and both flew very well in the North Michigan wind. Pat was first and Ivan was third. John F. was second.

You didn't miss much today.

We flew two rounds then the wind started really blowing so it was decided to stop the contest.
You could do about one circle after launch before you were too far downwind to be able to make it back to the field.
That is assuming that circle was in lift. If not then you might not make it back
And even then you ran the risk of a rotor tossing you upside down

Saturday was fun, despite the strong winds. Nice way to end the (outdoor) flying season
