Servo opinion

I am putting together a plane for ALES. It is an AVIA which is a lightly built 100 inch wingspan open bay ship.

I plan to use JR 285 servos in the ailerons.

Do you think these servos are up to the job?

Thanks,

Those 285s should be fine for ailerons on a slow, light ship. Good luck with her.

Hi Robert,
Please take a look at our DS6100.
You can use them alround.

All metal + super tight gears, only 10mm thick, very accurate and have more torque than most.
Best of luck with your build.

You could look at the futaba 3156 they will run on 6.0 volts we are also using unregulated life package on them. Very fast and very agitate. I run them on the elevator and ailerons and rudder on my 3.5xplorer. Have never had one fail. Just an all around great servo.

The MKS DS6100 does look good for its size:

I installed two of them in my DLG for rudder and elevator. I was very impressed with the absence of slop.

Not only do they have no slop, they center perfectly. I have them in my new "F" planes in aileron and vtail positions.

servo opinion about 285s

Thanks for the advice. What I was looking for was an opinion about using the 285s for my purpose. That is because I have several on hand.

I know there are a lot of other good (possibly better) servos available. But the 285s are "really" available to me as they are sitting on my workbench.

I don't know about no slop in 6100s to be honest.

Howdy,

I have 6 of these in my new Energic F3F.
They rock!
For now, the surfaces are slop free, (to be honest).
Time will tell how they hold up.
