I have the plane built and am waiting for another 4500 4s pack to finish it. Looks like the airplane balances perfectly with the 110 and a ICE 100 under the dash area. That is going to be perfect for putting batteries directly under the CG with easy access. I'll get more pictures up in a few days. AUW ended up being 11.5 pounds which is great for a wing area of around 1100 sq. in.

The second 4S 4500 came in today and I was able to fit them perfectly in the forward area of the lower compartment. With them in this position she balances perfectly and installing the batteries is extremely easy. I added some braces to hold them in place and ran a Velcro strap around them. The last pic is where I mounted the ICE 100. Should get some airflow I'll be running it at about half capacity so I am not too worried.

I can't tell but was wondering what size servo's your running i was thinking something in the 50-60 oz torque range . I'm still not sure if im going gas or electric with this being my 1st conversion. If i go gas im going with the DLE 30

I am using Futaba 9202 coreless servos for elevator and rudder and some old S148's for ailerons. I bet the DLE 30 will make this plane hover at 1/2 power. Double check when you mount the engine. I believe they modified the firewall to add the down thrust but did not change the instructions. The instructions call for mounting the engine 4mm above the crank shaft cross marks and putting in 2 degrees of down thrust, however, it looks like that is not necessary. I will know more after I can get my bird to the field. The weather lately has not cooperated.

After two weeks of bad weather I was finally able to fly the Cub. It turned out to be all I hoped and more. With the 110 she took off and climbed out nicely with at half throttle, this power combination is perfect. Rolls and loops looked very scale and there was no tendency to climb when power was added so they did change the firewall to add down thrust. Do NOT add more as the instructions call for.

I did find that the gear was very springy and I was unable to land without some bouncing. I am going to add more rubber bands to the gear to stiffen it up a bit.

All in all this turned out to be a perfect plane to convert to electric.

Bigger fly's better
Just ordered this thing,Im not an electric guy so im going with a DLE 20cc gasser!!! Im thinking 30cc or more is too much for this plane,It has a low wing loading like most cubs,Cant wait till spring cause I hate winter time except for some good building time,Have a CMP Yak 54 to put together also,Happy building people!!!

I have this plane and was wondering if it would be ok to put dubro inflatable tundra tires on it they are 5 and a half inches alittle heavey and The tail wheel a two inch wheel not inflatable is this ok or would it be bad

I have not gotten enough flights on this plane to know, but I can tell you about half throttle is all you need even for take off.

IMHO this plane will easily take bigger main wheels and I would recheck CG after adding a heaver tail wheel. As for aerobatic, it's a clipped wing Cub and flies like one.

Good choice, a 30CC is over kill!
