Went fine until the Arduino boot loader got corrupted, I was not able to set time between readings any longer.
I have ordered a extra X4 board at banggoog, is shipped just waiting.
I had put the X4 circuit board back i original case, still flying nice.

The code was kept simple, a faster servo lib would be best.

// ArduinoHUBSAN

#include <Servo.h>

Servo frontleft, frontright, backleft, backright;
int fl=0, fr=1, bl=2, br=3; //Analog 0-3
int flval, frval, blval, brval;

void setup()
{
frontleft.attach(3, 836, 2400);
frontright.attach(9, 836, 2400);
backleft.attach(10, 836, 2400);
backright.attach(11, 836, 2400);

frontleft.write(0);
frontright.write(0);
backleft.write(0);
backright.write(0);
delay(5000);//init ESC
}

void loop()
{
flval=analogRead(fl);
frval=analogRead(fr);
blval=analogRead(bl);
brval=analogRead(br);

flval=map(flval, 0, 1023, 0, 179);
frval=map(frval, 0, 1023, 0, 179);
blval=map(blval, 0, 1023, 0, 179);
brval=map(brval, 0, 1023, 0, 179);

frontleft.write(flval);
frontright.write(frval);
backleft.write(blval);
backright.write(brval);
}

My beginner experience:

Started with a S107G, and quickly wanted more. Started reading on this forum late last year and was considering a V922. After more reading I decided to get a V911 and an X4 instead.

Broke a motor on the X4 pretty quick, and played a lot with the V911. The V911 definitely helped me improve my skills. I was going to order 4 motors for the X4, but the cheaper 2-pack was OoS, so I just got 1 motor for the time-being.

Once that shipment came in, I broke another motor pretty quick again. But, my V911 and S107G was still there to fulfill the itch.

It didn't take too long for my V911 and S107G to both be out of commission, so I've been grounded for a little over a week. I have more orders coming in, but who knows how long that'll be.

In the mean time I've been reading a lot more. I read all of the X4 threads in their entirety! I've been getting inpatient, so I went to a LHS and picked up a motor+arm for the 1-SQ. They didn't have any QR-1 parts in stock yet. $10 freakin dollars! But, that's the price you pay if you want it NOW!

I also picked up some spray dry lube, RTV Silicon, Hot Glue Gun, & Elmers Glue while I was out. That's about all I didn't have in the tool box based my readings.

After all the research I did a few mods.

I had ordered the rubber feet from Massive a few days ago and they arrived today. Their service is impeccable! They even refunded some of my shipping charges since they were able to ship in a standard envelope! I am so impressed with their service that I will be recommending them to everyone I know!

I cut some pieces of antenna tube for motor protectors, and also put some ET on the arms. Did both calibrations and it is flying great now! I had the problem where it veered off when giving rudder and that always led to a fatal crash. I was practicing in the kitchen, though, and I know better now. Best to keep it over carpet for initial trim and then get it right outside with plenty of room.

First time outside I couldn't resist and did some flips!!! No problems. Flying great now, and just working on improving my skills. Trying to buzz around the house tonight and I'll take it back outside tomorrow.

I have a neat way of tucking the wires; they basically disappear when you do it this way. Haven't seen this yet, but others may be doing it. Insert battery so that the leads are on opposite sides. Twist both ends first, then connect. Twist the whole connector and wires making sure to orient it for maximum tuckability. Push into body so that the teeth built into the body hold it well.

Flying my X-4 and lost rear black blade. I installed U816 blade in a pinch and works fine. I may just add orange blades to rear and white as is on front. I like shape of stock blades and will order extras. Many ways to extend sticks. Tubing fit over/ w heat shrink. Some radios ypou can extend stick or after market stuff.

Hey Jason, that was pretty fast for a postage-stamped piece.

Here's my blog on extending your transmitter stalks:

Thanks for your patronage, sorry we're out of motors but we do have a replenishment order pending.

Cheers,

Thanks Jim! I have that link open on my laptop, desktop, and phone. That is a fantastic compilation and kudos to all that contributed and spent their time to organize it. I just wish I had read it a little sooner, but I was too busy flying my V911. Once all the copters were down I had time to do a lot of reading.

More experience to share:

Dropped the X4 in a dirty pot of water in the sink last night. Unplugged the battery and rinsed it off. Then took my air compressor and blew all the water out of it. Still works!!!

Flew it outside this morning. Did some flips and flew around in Expert mode more. This thing is quick! Lovin it!

I have a spare body I'm going to put on tonight. The original has a cracked motor mount and 1 screw is stripped out and got lost. The cracked motor mount allows the rubber feet to easily fly out in a crash. I've had it fall out 3 times, but found it all but once. Luckily I bought 8 instead of just 4.

Before every flight and after every crash I check to make sure the feet are still there, motors are pushed all the way into the body, and props spin freely.
