I've run the stock motor on 4S without issue---But if you can rewind the motor for MORE power with one less cell on 3S without heat issues---This is the way to go...ike having your cake and eating it too!!!......

As luck would have it, I used this motor build to do the rewind video so have captured a few frames where the custom shaft can be seen.







I'm pretty sure this could run on 4S too - even if it were for short bursts as 37 is well short of the 60 I like to have as an upper limit. The higher in thrust you go with these - the harder it becomes to get more out of them.

I remember on my Diablo tests, it was the current that cooked the lead wires on 4S when I went real hot o the winds. The wire wasn't thick enough to carry it.

Extremely impressive as always.

I don't know how you do what you do. I know that the manufacturers (HH, GP, and GWS) monitor this forum or we would never have the sabre, mig or the 30mm fans. Thank you Nitro for being a leader in this field. I don't think we would have this great modeling technology without your continuous pushing of the the envelope, showing what can be done.

I just finished rewinding another one with 4 strands of 34AWG wire and 6 turns, terminated in Delta.

New kV is 11,700kV. At 7.3 volts. RPM's were 85,740 unloaded. Now to stick it in a 30mm case and strap a suitable rotor on it!

So dropping 2 winds increased kV by 2400. Dropping it by 3 winds increased kV by 4300.

I redid kV readings on 3 different motors this morning and came up with an average of 7400kV. I must have got a pretty good dud that I first measured at 6600kV and would explain why my model wouldn't fly on 2S.

Nitro - this is awesome - compared to other 30mm setups it looks really good. It even beats the KP32, and is around half the weight!

If that housing is anything like the AEO 30mm housing I have, that large center hole is a bearing tube mount. Even though it shows a bolt spacing of 12mm, if you look close the center support is quite thick. I don't see a traditional mounting arrangement on that case. I could be wrong, but that sure looks like the standard AEO housing. Perhaps the case's motor mounting area could be machined down?

The problem is the thickness, not the center hole. A Regular fan mount is probably only 2mm thick at most, the AEO is probably 8mm thick. it would take an abnormally long prop shaft with really long screws and that would create other problems. Cutting it out is sort of the idea but it would need to be ground down so that it's much thinner.
