I've been flying a 20lb + model with a TJ120. On 12s you looking at between 4.3 and 4.6kw. I think you'd want at least 5000 cells, if not bigger. I was using 8000mah but it was a bigger plane that could carry the weight.
Could be interesting.....

It's done.

Just ordered the TJ120 edf unit + Neu 1915-1Y motor.

I already have a CC 120amp HV and that should work.

What do you think the AUW will be using the TJ120?

My guess is something between 8 - 10 lbs, but we shell see.

I intend to use 10cell 5000mAh for day to day flying with an option of a light 12cell, first I would like to bench run and see some numbers before I finalize on a setup.

Looks like I'm going to put the fuse aside till I get the fan (Dont want to install the newly cut motor bulkhead or the ducts till I get the fan unit).

Anyways, I decided to start woring on the vertical fin.

As you can tell by the pics, modification of a functional rudder is on the way, tomorrow I have to stop at the hobby shop to get some wood and some robart pin hinges.

How would a modern 90mm 8-10s setup perform in this bird, wouldn't that be a lighter setup? Yes this bird was designed for 120mm, but wasn't that back when everyone was running NiMh's? The size of the plane also points to 90mm.

A 90mm fan on 8-10cell setup would fly this thing easy, personally I don't feel like going through all the extra work to convert it to 90mm.

But would be interesting to see how she would fly on a modern 120mm.
