Twins

I am getting hooked on twin engine airplanes. I currently have a 71 inch B-25, the Alekto Twin motor prop plane, a VQ Twin Otter and the Top Notch Aerocommander (under construction). Are there other twins available at a reasonable price (less than $300) - electric or convertable to electric?

There's more out there:

I have the Durafly Da Havilland DH-88 Comet :

and the Dynam Cessna 310 which is my favorite and a must buy IMO:

There's also the YS-11 :

Very cheap kit and good reviews !

Don't forget the Mosquito: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s...Fe1AMgodlBcAkQ

There's the C47/DC-3. A few more like the Beech Barron but they are over the price range.

Love the Shrike AeroCommander

I too have a hankering for twins. double the trouble !

The TT-62 is a great flying plane and looks really good. I won first place in our club Fun Scale contest. I have Scorpion motors and use two 4S 4200mah batteries - one for each motor and ESC. I have a build thread here on RC Groups.

I have checked out most of those. I have found that HobbyKing wants too much for shipping. They are asking $104 for shipping their P-47 from theUSA warehouse. No way...

Iflyrc,

I agree on HK's shipping charges in general. My C310 was very reasonable from Grayson.

Banana has some good shipping deals

B60

I was strongly considering the B-60 but now I'm not sure it will hold up to our grass field based on Sparks nosewheel issue. I almost pulled the trigger on the YS-11 from HobbyKing. they have it for $90 with $38 shipping - very reasonable. However, I also think it has very small wheels made for hard surface flying. Bigger wheels would not look good on that plane.

Although it is not a twin, the FMS/Airfield P-51 or P-47 (63 inch version) is in my crosshairs. Just need to bite the bullet and order it.

The wheel/rim issue can be avoided by simply replacing all 3 wheels with a set of low bounce DuBro or Dave Brown wheels. I usually replace the Chinese ARF wheels, anyway---most are too hard for my liking.

There's a good thread here on the YS-11. Lots of interesting mods.

FYI- The Dynam C310 handles grass pretty well. Great flying twin.
+1 on the FMS P-51. I've been hankering for the FMS 1400mm BF-109.

Not to pop your bubble but the canopy comes off the Catalina and the props chew it up if you are not careful.
Thatís' why I put two canopies in the upgrade kits for that model.

That is definately an awesome model airplane. It is unfortunately, out of my price range for model airplanes. I settled for the Eflite Beech Bonanza that turn out to be a great flying model - my first model with retracts.
