Gearing for HPI Sprint 2 for VTA

Bought a HPI Sprint 2 and immediately replaced the radio, esc and motor. Going to do spec carpet racing. Track requires 17.5T motor (brushed or brushless), HPI X-Pattern tires, and 2S 55c or less batteries. I bought a Hobbywing 17.5T/1900kv esc/sensored brushless motor combo. The car is slow as s***, like 20mph. I was thinking of changing the pinion/spur from 23/90 to 26/87. Those are what's available at the shop so I can race tomorrow night. I'd really like to go down to 28/81 which what was on my Traxxas VXL Rally. I doubt that I'd overheat the motor with such a low KV. I ran it in a parking lot for 20 minutes straight at the current gearing and the motor and ESC were still ice cold. If anyone could chime in with suggestions that would be great! THANK YOU!

Hmm, with 28/81 gearing you're still way undergeared for 17.5T spec since you're running a 6.1 FDR

The ideal FDR should be around 3.5 to 4.0 for 17.5T spec. You'll need a different gearing combo to make it competitive.

I'm sure SporadicIdiocy will agree, ask the guys at the track you intend to race at.

They'll tell you what's best for that particular track.
