New 17" Proboat Miss Geico & Impulse.

Proboat has announced 2 new affordable entry level boats. Both look really cool. A upgrade to a small brushless inrunner, could make them really fun.

Horizon has them priced at $120 each. Might be a tough sell to get one of these compared to the Aquacraft minimono which is brushless and runs a flex shaft instead of solid shaft (better prop angle).

My buddy got the Minimono about a month ago and it has been a nightmare ever since....the stock shaft would come "unsoldered" from the piece holding the prop on and the coupler might as well been a piece of tape....it just would NOT hold onto the shaft. The smallest piece of seaweed would stop it dead in its tracks lol.

I noticed that bounce. Crazy.

My friend has a minimino for his son and had a part supply issue that grounded it for about a month. He's had a few issues. As far as little monos, you guys no I'm all about the minicat velocity mono... a lot more $ but worth every cent.... the MMG (Mini Miss Geico) intrigues me though. A small little brushless motor, even a little outrunner... that could be some fun.

I wonder if the Mini Impulse could be converted to self-righting?

The big issue I see is the solid shaft and resulting prop angle. Any more power and I think you'll get into pretty big handling issues unless it's converted to a flex shaft and strut.

An easy mod for this boat would be a 27t 540 brushed motor..........................or a 2850 brushless Leopard

Could be fun with the right motor, but as wparsons said, it might not handle it well. My NQD rigger has the same arrangement and it constantly hopped (not the same as porpoising) with a more powerful motor. But it settled down after I installed a flex & strut and is now one of my fastest boats!

Sweet, that Impulse hull looks great and should be very easy to add a proper flex and strut arrangement. I think I will buy the bare hull when it's available and swap in the running gear from my Joysway Offshore Warrior. Should be a bullett!

I love it, but the hull has had some mishaps and crashes which make it look a little the worse for wear. The Impulse hull would be a cosmetic upgrade more than anything.

The Offshore Warrior was my 2nd hobby grade boat, and it performs worlds better than the ProBoat Mini-V that it replaced. Blistering speed, (for such a small boat) self-righting, and reliable once you replace the crappy stock ESC.

Yea, look forward to giving this mini Impulse the brushless powerplant and flex drive it deserves! I really like the way that hull looks. The mini mono looks pretty good too.
