Palestinians back at UN

After being wiped off the map in 1948:

Quote:
Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat said last week.

“We want Palestine back on the map, on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, carried by 150 to 170 nations,” Erakat said.

Quote:
“When Palestine gains the status of nonmember state, no Israeli can argue these are disputed territories,” he added.

“All the actions of Israel, fait accompli on the ground ... will become null and void, including the annexation of East Jerusalem.”

This time around, he looks certain to get his way, but the resolution he plans won't bring independence any nearer. It will also anger the United States and Israel, which is likely to retaliate with painful economic countermeasures.

Time will tell if they've made the right choice, but they don't seem to have any other options for a chance of having a realistic state.

Probably the PLO shouldn't have acted rashly back in '67, then.

Odd, if it's not just about Jews why arent they upset about Jordan? I don't see Palestine written on the map there, in spite of it containing the vast majority of "palestinian" land and most former "Palestinians". I just double checked and it says J O R D A N on the map there, not P A L E S T I N E.

So let's see. In one direction is far more "Palestinian" land and far more "Palestinians". In the other direction a small fraction of "their" land and a small fraction of "palestinians", and of course, Jews.

Which do they fight the hardest for while virtually ignoring the other? The one with Jews, of course.

It's about neither land nor people. If it was, they'd be after Jordan.

It's about Jews.

The UN is the perfect place for their complaints. The august luminaries on the human rights council are sure to agree.

Stopping the rocket attacks would have been a good start.

They're kind of in a bind on that one. This most recent UN demand would indicate they want control over even more land than they can't control already.

Note how I'm kindly presuming the rocket attacks are outside their control?

All that would do is let Israel act with impunity like it did before Palestinians had rockets.

It acts with impunity anyway. Palestinian rockets do nothing but further justify Israels position and actions.

Wasn't it exhilarating to see how DNC delegates did NOT want Jerusalem made Israel's capital?

Oh my, yes. For reasons likely to be 180 degrees out of phase with yours. Islamists have made remarkable inroads in the Dem party.

Even better, the seeming oblivousness to the fact that the folks they're allying themselves with have views which are shall we say, rather incongrous with respect to the lifestyles and choices of massive portions of the Democratic demographic. In short, the entire spectrum from unwed mothers to gays would find life a bit different should the ideas of the Dems Islamic allies come to have any legal force.

at least under our control it is relatively peaceful there, under palestinian "control" the first thing to happen would be the roof getting ripped off the al aqsa dome.

Yeah right, such as the priceless minbar of Saladin being destroyed.

Not to mention the mischief of Sharon and soldiers visiting Al-Aqsa with their boots on!

Interesting why they're not letting Sharon die! Apparently a dying Rabbi Kaduri has prophesied that Jesus would return as Messiah only after Sharon dies!

I was speaking of the 'palestinians' when they got it back.

Did they take it as a sign of goodwill and the desire for coexistence?

Nope, they destroyed what was left, used Israels decision to retreat from it as evidence in support of Israel's weakness and the correctness of their horrific methods, and used it as a now closer forward base for more rocket attacks.

So, what does the Koran say about unwed mothers, who form a large contingent of the Dems voting block? How about gay marriage and gays in general? What about abortion?

I'm fascinated by what the folks they're defending think of these central planks of the Dem party.
