Are you going to put a spar in the wing?

im with him^^^^^^

I know you said you glassed the wing before adding the landing gear plates.
How much weight does that hold? Did you test it?

I will not put spar in wing because is not necessary, I did a lot of jets before using this technique, the jets weight are around 2500 to 3000 grams. In this mirage 2000 the weight is 2600 grams ready to fly. Also the fiber plate is very strong supporting the weight of mirage and a lot of bad landings.

That's how the Combat Models F16n is no spars. They use 1200k carbon fiber in I think 5 or 6 shallow channels on the wings and then use more pieces to join the wings to the fuse then they just glass the whole model with 3/4oz. glass. It makes it super strong and lite. I guess its not exactly the same CBM uses carbon where his is only glass. But no spars iin the CBM f16

I have also used the copper plate from Radio shack. It is lite and the copper is thin for use I think in circuit boards. The stuff I used is copper on both sides. I used it when I was building my own lipo packs. I used it to solder the tabs of the packs to and to solder the leads to. Its easy to take a dremel and sand off the copper to divide it for pos and neg circuits. Nice plane By the way.

Hi in Brasil, sorry, but I think you are dreaming if you think that will do 250km/h. Sounds exessively heavy at 3.5kg of that size. Be humble, you'll be lucky to get 120-150km/h max speed of your build, Best of luck anyway, Joe.

Hi Joe

Common, 250km it isn't soo much... hehehe I have to update the specs, the final weigth is 2.5 kilos not 3.5 kilos as written before. I have one viper jet heavier than mirage and i get speeds higher than 200 km/h with the same electronics. But anyway 250km/h will be my goal..
Oct 13, 2012, 02:28 AM
Hi Humberto, 2.5kg sounds more like it but still, looking at your build I thing you'll be pushing your luck to reach 100m/h. IMO it would dissintigrate anything over 200km/h. Keep us posted, Joe.

Huh? Why would it Disintegrate at 200? Theres a bunch of foamies in rhe scratch built forum that have done 140mph or higher and they werent glassed

I did a lot of jets since 2009, and a lot of threads here in RCGroups... and never desintegrate any jet in air... i understand your concern but i have some "velocity" experience flying glassed depron jets and glassed delta wings over 200km/h. Some projects like my Diamond Delta Wing take several years of development and a lot of crashes/burns to reach this top speed (measured with gps and pitot tube devices)

I will do more tests and do videos of this mirage 2000, i hope i can reach my goal, if not i will be ok with the speed.

It is starting to look like a nice model, I didn't realize you were going to enclose it as fully scale, looking at your early pics. Your speed target with that set up is still bit of a dream IMO.
BTW, I'm working on my "el-cheapo" FF foamy version but putting top 8-10S power system in it, seem very light, but with 200km/h I'll be pretty happy.
Always wondered how is RC flying activity in your part of the world, Sth/Amerika? Down here in Aust. we hardly hear that your continent even exists. Have you got many clubs there or RC magazines of your own? They are very biast down here, it took me about 2 weeks after the last olympics to find out there was even soccer played there, Aust. got kicked out early so there was not a mention, J.

For many years I keep the Mirage 2000 project under my guard, but now i decide to open the pandora box and make the project open to the public.
This is my old mirage thread with more informations -> https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1187662

PS: If someone like the project and decide to donate please do by paypal to humbertomelo@gmail.com
