I'm shocked that there's not a whole lot of interest in this plane. Flap ready, nice large hatch for the fuel tank or batteries, decent sized, and priced right. I'm probably going to pick one up soon and electrify it. This plane seems to be the perfect lazy day (and aerobatic) flyer.

I'm just getting back into the hobby and just ordered one of these ARFs tonight. This thing reminds me of an ugly stik that looks like a trainer and has flaps. It baffles me that the features this thing has were never thought of back when I started flying. No rubber bands to plague me, the wing is in 2 piece and bolts in, easy access fuel tank etc...

i think this motor would be a good choice for the avistar but what do others think would this motor be good for the avistar, on 4 cells

ok folks iam building my Electric Avistar Elite, you gotta love the big battery hatch/fuel compartment, also love the battery motor mount thats not drilled out so you can mount your motor of choice and put in the blind nuts, iam going with the motor i linked above, i think ill start out with a 12x6 prop and move to a 12x6 -3 blade later or a 13x6 , i think this plane will run a 13 inch prop to.plane fells well build and sturdy, build is very good and great directions, wont get to fly till summer tho. later.

Any on that has the avistar nitro and dont plane to use the eletric motor mount i may be interested in buying it. let me know.sc

Well folks i could not take it anymore had to maiden the elite today in 32 degrees weather and sunny and feeling like it was 45 degrees.1 3mn flight.. plane flew great 2 clicks down elevator and 2 clicks left put the plane nice and level, take off and landing was the tricky part as it was at my local park and the LZ is the parking lot, take went good but was a nervous wreck on landing with a 3 bouncer but all is good, can wait for summer.

I actually FINALLY started assembling mine after like 6 weeks of it sitting in its box haha. I must say this is a JOY to assemble as far as what I remember of ARFs back in the day (mid/late 90s). Got the wing done with all 4 servos and the flaps/ailerons as flush as my eyeballs will allow.

Going to start on the rest of it tomorrow. I'm going to pair this with one of the new Evolution 10cc gasoline 2 strokes so the big compartment will come in handy for the ignition module. I also love how detailed the directions are, how nicely everything is packed as well.

Congrats on a successful maiden flight Scott! What park do you fly at (when you're not at MVRC)?

Tom i fly at the park right by me called Tapahi park, not sure if you know the area, far west side of the part is a big open field thats great for flying. Avistar fly much like the escapade but with tricycle landing gear.
