Not necessary. Direct connection between the GCU and the iOSD then the 10pin connector to the DJI video downlink.

Can you please explain this to me:

"Another nice feature is that if you are using the 2.4gHz Data Link you get 3 can bus connectors on the iOSD. I have the 900mHz which has 2 but the 2.4gHz only has one. Now those users will be able to connect everything."

I'm getting an iOSD with a 5.8 DJI vTX/vRX. I'm trying to decide between the 2.4Ghz and 900Mhz datalink. Is there a big range distance between the 2.4Ghz and 900Mhz models? If 2.4Ghz can get me a mile, I'm good, but what is this about can bus ports? Is there one that has more ports than the other?

Many thanks..

There is a range difference between the 2.4gHz and the 900mHz. You will get more distance with the 900. In some countries the 900 is illegal. Not in the US. The issue before the iOSD was that the 2.4 only had one can bus connection and that was an issue connecting everything. With the iOSD, you get three additional can bus ports so it is a non-issue now. You can get either and be happy.

Ahhh.. Many thanks Tahoe Ed. Any indication of range with the 2.4gHz? I know you can go miles with a 500mw 2.4gHz vTX.. I know there are many factors at play, but assuming no obstacles, will I be able to get a solid mile out of the 2.4gHz datalink? Anyone know or can point me to someone that has done any range testing?

I 7K with the 900 and about 3 or 4K with the 2.4. Remember this is all line of site.

Edit I found the info in the Wiki.

I can't get camera video as well. How can I tell the version? Those that are using or getting adapters, are you utilizing Ver. 2's?

First of all, manual page 10/33

Lost in the wind
more data with AVCHD, if you are on Windowz, you can use http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...er-get-started
to import and save to multiple formats types.

I currently use it when I am on Windows.
