Now that's a sailplane.

This is my Great Planes Spirit 2M. The kit was given to me earlier this year by a gent who was getting out of the hobby. From a sticker on the box it appears the kit was manufactured in 1994. All the parts were die cut rather than the laser cutting of modern kits. It was a real joy to build...except for carving the wingtips and nose block! Don't know why I dislike that part so much!

Here's my favorite:

ElectraLight converted to all sailplane. AUW is about 34 ounces. Just love the way it looks in the air (and on the ground). And flys just as nice.

That's one of my favorite rc pictures of all time Joe, the super Oly looking like a sturdier structural member against the van than the very car itself

Balsa breaks better

Renatoa, when did you swipe the v tail off my Super Esprit and put it on your Bird of Time???

Looks pretty cool, how does it fly?

Steve, I hope to find out if the Super Oly flies better than the van drives. The van is in the scrap yard or some ones new toaster . .

Thank You Kurt. Missing is a Grand Esprit, a Viking MkI and my other Olies, one regular and one D-tube, cap strip and built up TE at 102".

The fuselage was of a Graupner Cumulus XXL, 7 cm shorter than BoT.
Flown very well, fall of 2010, a lot of authority from that V-tail, for such a short fuselage and huge wings.

That is a Golden Eagle and it took about three months to find the joiner.

Ok, we need a thread listing where to get these floaters! Only basic spec's , name, address, price, web site, plans or kit availability. I certainly can't keep track of all these different things. Anyone, please?

I would suggest that you pick one or two that you really like, and go from there. I'm guessing that some are home designed, some are out of production, what ever. Pick your favorites, and we can help. Maybe. Mine was a modification of an exzisting plane, that is no longer avaliable.

Best 2-channel I ever flew: the 2-meter "Free Spirit".

For today's radios and gear: add about an inch or two to the nose, and decrease the wing angle of incidence to zero. Substitute balsa for the spruce spars in the outboard panels. You can easily build to 20 ounces and it goes like stink.

Available as plans from Carstens Publishers. There is a 3-meter version occasionally available as a kit, but I never flew that one.

Yours, Greg
