AMA Update

Latest words from the AMA:
We are continuing to explore all legal and political options available, but these conversations may take time and a definitive solution is unlikely before the February 19 registration deadline.

Currently, registration is free of charge until January 19. If you would like to take advantage of this free period, you may want to register before that day.

Salt dome

A salt dome is being constructed very close to the runway at our field. It should be noted that flying over the construction site is not allowed. Flyers will have to make adjustments to their flying and runway approach when fling at the West end of the field. It would not be good to get any complaints from the construction crew, so PLEASE try to stay away from the salt dome during construction.

After the domes has been built and filled, there will be little or no activity at the domes. Although flying over the domes will be tolerated when they are not occupied by county workers, care should be taken to prevent any unforeseen accidents with the buildings.

Here are some photos (looking West) taken during construction.

Field Damage

We have experienced a lot of vandalism by ATV riders late this summer. It appears they have no motive other than to raise havoc at our field and throughout the community. The vandalism included destruction of pic-nic tables, overturning the porta-potty, damaging the barbeque grill and numerous ruts dug by the ATVs. Although some ruts were cut into our runway, we have managed to patch them to enable normal flying to continue.

Local authorities have been unresponsive to the vandals which have left many members frustrated. We will continue to search for methods to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.
