Forward swept flying wings (with Video).

I have been doing some forward swept planes lately. From 24" up to the newest 8 feet, and dang they are fun! The little 24", The Cuda, is a hoot! I even have one with LED's now.

I made a handful of them and took them to a fun fly up in Tennessee a week ago. The guys up there are having a ball with them just flying, doing some racing and some combat.

The little 24" span ones are CNC cut EPP with Castle Creations T-Bird 18s, low cost motors, APC 7x4E props and use 1300 to 2200mah 3S lipos. I really need to get some video. I guess if anyone wants to see it I can. Speed is around 50-60 MPH and they have enough thrust to go straight up as long as you dare.

So far I have just been free-hand shooting spray paint on the for color, so dont critique my quickie paint jobs!

What ya'll think?

Laine.

Those do look like a blast. I, a while ago, built a small fleet of cheapo micro EPP wings and let anybody & everybody fly 'em at the field. You inspire me to do that again

Hey all my paint jobs are just like that and I have no problem finding the plane in the sky when it is crowded. I have one plane with very big eyes on the bottom of the wing, people say it creeps them out.

Thanks, they are a hoot to fly. If I get a chance to do some flying this weekend I'll put up a video. There is a little bit of video of a couple of them on You Tube from the T.E.F.F. fun fly at Tullahoma last weekend.

As for plans, sorry, Im not a plans kinda guy. In fact I dont like plans so much, I make these planes " RX ready". That way if someone wants one, just slap in an RX and a lipo, check the CG and controls and go fly. Easier that way.

I still want one! I've been kicking myself in the butt for not grabbing that one from you at SEFF.

I flew one of these in the combat at SEFF this year and it was sweet! Got Laine painting me one up like a Fire Truck!

Look out!!!

Now if I just figure out how to put a siren on it!

Here is a video shot yesterday of the original Cuda. This poor plane has been through many rounds of combat, multiple crashes, and hard landings. This is the plane I hand to anyone at anytime to "try it out". Sometimes it comes back in more pieces than it left in. A little hot glue, and its back up in seconds.

For sure! Hemi LOVES to go fly! We have to take lots of water with because she will NOT stop running. Sounds like she's gonna have a heart attack some times.

Heres another video, this one has LED's on it. It was a bit tail heavy (due to the LED placement) but still flew fine. They make great night flyers too.

I leave for SEFF in 4 days and mine still isn't finished. I need about an hour to cut the battery bay and wire everything up and I should be ready to maiden it on Saturday. Wish me luck!

Here are some daytime shots now that she's finish. It balances about 1/2" in front of the wing root. Hopefully the wind will die down here this evening so I can maiden her before leaving for SEFF in the morning.

Hangin.
Sorry to reboot an old thread, how was the yaw stability on these little guys? Both high and low speed. Looking to build some scratchers of similar design.
