Update

OK, I sort of bit of more than I could quickly chew when I switched from giving away one built airplane to giving a bunch away.. So, I have been hand cutting, assembling, starting a new job (wah, wah...) I said they would ship Thursday and it will now be tomorrow, Saturday. I have one more fuselage to assemble, a couple of wings to reinforce, a little bit of cutting, some rough sanding and box building. (zmonster97 I didn't ship the Delta yet because i needed it for a pattern.)

Here are some pictures of where things stand:

Thank you, it's a great thing you are doing. Just don't overload yourself. For the tucano take all the time you need. After reading thru the buildlog and looking at your's I already have a couple idea's for paint, but I'll make sure to maiden it first.

Again and I don't think it can be said enough to anyone that gives stuff away, Thank you.

Hey Jim, Thanks for doing this, I have a bunch of electronics laying around (and more coming my way, thanks to rcgroup member offerings) I am currently building a Drongo and a guillows 402 p-51 (being converted to BL R/C). I would love to get one of these (if you have any left ).

Thanks,
Paisa.

paisa, the freebie is gone, I was just updating the people that got them. If you want to build one of these the plans are available on RCG or you can save yourself some time and get CNC cut kits - info is in the threads (dz1fsb.) I have been on RCG for quite a while and just discovered these plans a month ago. Truthfully, I am done cutting for a while and will buy the next few cuts Drongo looks interesting, maybe I will cut myself another plane...

Jim,

I didn't even realize that you were building these from scratch, I thought they were already built! This makes it even more awesome, and will make me appreciate it that much more! Take your time...and take a break if necessary. No need to overdo it for yourself. If you feel like it's too much, then there would be no hard feelings on my part if you retracted your offer.

It's a very kind thing you're doing, and there's no need to burn yourself out over it.

By the way, how do you paint the planes? For the first time ever, I tried painting epo with spray paint and it seems to come off very easily.

koo, there is a whole section on Painting in the scratchbuilders forum (https://www.rcgroups.com/foamies-scratchbuilt-428/.) Each foam reacts a little differently to each type of paint. BTW, my brain knows how to do it, but my hands don't yet. Anyway, many people use markers followed by clear packing tape. Others use colored packing tape and then there is lower temp plastic film. For paint, I suggest you start with Fred's Secret Sauce (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...c#post22375301) to get a good base. That should take care of your adhesion problem. Then thin your paint. You can easily use any water-based paint, just thin it correctly. Many people use rattle-can paints successfully, you just have to keep the can moving because it sprays a lot of paint.

Look around in the painting forum: https://www.rcgroups.com/painting-an...hing-tips-497/. Search or posting your question there will get you a lot of answers, discussion and opinions.

Since I'm only spray painting the wings of my skywalker I just might cover them with clear packaging tape. Would add a bit weight but the 'walker is a tank and doesn't care :P Also, the wings would be a bit stronger and I don't feel like redoing the paint on that plane. Maybe use some other method on the Prime Jet8
