Top is completely done. We also made the master templates for the center section. There are some changes to be made to them, but they are cut out.

Sounds great! Are you planning to assemble the center section structure in the mold...unlike the WoW version?

Yep,
We sure are! Basically all that the center section will involve, is painting and equipment install.

Templates were cut out and glued to some plywood:

Then my buddy Tom got to cutting out parts while I was doing the inlet molds:

Parts cut to shape. All that is left, is to make the wing tube notch's and figure out the lightning hole/battery tray arrangement:

Inlet molds with the first coat of surface resin applied:

Gary and myself have an agreement that will allow me to include copies of my plans with our center sections without requiring you guys to buy a set of his 82" version.

And some more photo's:

I also have 3/4 of the panels lines drawn onto the outer wing panels. All that is left, is the panel lines on the bottom of one wing panel:

erm..originals' Wings were as one piece plywood skinned surfaces.. as in virtually no visible or intended panel lines beyond the leading edge join seam and the movable surfaces.

I'd say it is nearly impossible to have One single piece of plywood to skin that entire wing, there were "joints" in the skin, and that is essentially what I am replicating. granted they would be much smaller than a typical sheet-metal panel line, I can deal with it to give the wings some "life", as my experience with this paint and my FW-190 is that if you keep the primer over the tape light and then wet-sand down to the tape, the paint nearly fills in the panel line left when the tape is peeled.

Speaking of, I could even leave the tape on the surface and then it would be a small ridge instead of an indentation..

Things to ponder one still..

Oh, and the wingtip and curved LE at the tip was actually aluminum, so these area's will get flite-metal'd, along with the access hatch's.

The larger portion of thd bottom of the center section is molded. Tomorrow we will mold the bottom half of the inlet lips.

And on the subject of F14, i have a gentleman machining up parts for it. So i sillbe molding more components of that soon as well
