4S 8" props vs 3S 10" props Performance & Flight Times

I fly a DJI Naza F450 with 10" props and 4400mah 45C lipos.

What's the difference in performance and flight times when switching from 3S 10" props to 4S 8" props? Will 8" props have less thrust, but be compensated by the extra volts in power?

Add me to the list. I wanna find out as well. Plus I also want to know the difference in handling.
I heard that higher volt(rpm) and smaller prop makes the handling easier. It didn't seem very logical to me.

I hope someone shares...

Well to give some reference a 1kg quad with 10" props on 3s 4500ma will hover for 20.64 min @ 69% throttle and same quad with 8" props on 4s 4500ma will hover 20.92 min @ 77% throttle. Calculated using ecalc. I would prefer the larger props.

I've used 10" and 9" Gemfan props on both an F450 and F550. To me there's no difference in flight times, I think a 2200mah 4S Lipo gives roughly the same flight time as a 2200mah 3S. Maybe even a tiny bit more, you need less amps to hover. Do not use the stock 10" props on 4S, the motors will get very arm. 10" Graupnrs and CF Gemfans are alright though, it'll have heaps of power and won't overheat.

I fly with 4S 4000-4500 batts on 10" props in manual mode flight times are 4-5 minutes... i'll run my motors at 150Fand after 50+ packs the motors are fine.

3S + 10" props = lame..... 4S + 8" props = lamer.

I can lie but the video can't...

What's a servo?
Ecalc is great for guesstimations.

More and more it is proving unreliable for accurate predictions for multirotor use.
Its better to get your own experience and until you get that, the opinion of relatively trustworthy personal who have used certain motor and prop combinations.

There is something wrong with getting 5 minute flights on a 4S 4500mAh on a DJI 450.
Oversized motors? Weight? Prop selection? What is it?
Your times should be above 10 minutes.

I get noticeably more flight time with 10" props compared to the 8" ones.

I believe it is over weight for this size with 4500mah.
I fly F450 , 4S 1800mah on sunny angle 980Kv 8x4 props and can fly 6 minutes

Crius Multiwii SE with GPS Ublox

I fly with 3S 2200mAh battery on 8"x4.5 props...about 6-7 minutes...sometimes using GPS PH and RTH on this video bellow.
