i like the 25mm with that 16,000kv motor, i bet the thrust from that is insane. I hope you post some stats about that setup.

test results.

EDF weight: 3.9 grams (scale 0.1 resolution)
motor: bidproduct 2.3 ohm (low Kv motor)
spektrum AR6400
370mah 1S nano
draw: 327mah spike, 300mah normal
thrust (static): 4.9 grams

thrust to weight: 1.25
draw per gram: 61.22 mah/gram of thrust

conclusions:
thrust to weight ratio is too small for all but the lightest electronics. a deltang and acts might work. a 70mah 25c cell could run a 4 engine jet. 19 grams of thrust, 16 in engine weight.
a 30 gram AUW aircraft would mean an airframe weight of 11 grams. probly doable, but not a very good solution.
next up is a trying to bump up thrust with a shroud.

am i the only one who likes the above setup?
some how it makes me feel like im in the dawn of the jet age, when thrust was low, throttle was touchy and planes could bearly take off, and multi engined mosters with common...

edit: like, WW1, only with turbines

edit2:
2s test. WOT (battery direct)
2.3 ohm

10 second - 15 grams thrust
15 second - 12 grams thrust
20 second - 4 grams turust - dead.

this is 8.4 volts. i wonder how it would do at 5 or 6 volts. maybe a high PWM ESC set at 6 volts?

i must try later. (think i still have a few motors.)

edit3: we all assume these are only 1S motors, in fact, they are 1v motors. i must runs some tests later.

There is a quick test

40mm bim shroud
NEU 705 20mm motor
1050mah 30c 3S lipo
CC esc

I thought some of you might be interested in this.

If it can run on 2s, it should be a pretty good motor for the 25mm outrunner unit.

oops, broke my houseing! the fit was tight, and when trying to remove motor, it cracked! stupid me, i knew it was over tight, but did nothing about it, but shove it in.

on an intresting note, the 2.3 motor get 3.6g max when the wrong rotor is used.

i tried an albatros motor, reads about 1.4 ohms, tho tat may be wrong.

i get 5 grams at 50% thrust, draw 415 mah
6.2 grams at 100%, draw of 520 mah

perhaps the rotor is stalling out?

edit: im selling this one, as i have no use for one. bim, ill be buying more from you soon, if thats okay

Which unit broke?

As far as stalling out, Joe A10 proved better in air performance than static performance. I'm really not surprised at the fact that the static thrust numbers aren't that high.

yeah, i was thinking that as i was posting. EDF are different from open air props.
at any rate, im down to one unit and i need a twin to fly. (ar6400 and all that).
probly order some 22mm 7mm units later this week.
hobbyking has been out of stock on the 10mm motors forever!
i have two in back order.im tempted to just keep ordering one at a time as i can. they have to get them in stock sometime....

I heard back from SW. Simply put, that 0.7mm minimum thickness does not account for margin of safety. I have to go back over key areas.

^ Thanks.

pdawg asked if I could make the 40mm shrouds "no rotor trimming needed". I epanded the ID by 0.6mm which puts them at 40.6mm. That should swork for the GWS rotor and as far as I'm aware, the AEO shrouds are GWS altered copies so the AEO rotors should work too. I'm just waiting on confirmation.
